I will never quite understand how this store stays in business because it's like a morgue every time I go in. Even around the holidays there was hardly anyone in there so I just don't get it. Kohl's recently announced more store closures and I fully expected this store to be on the list but it wasn't. It's the largest store in terms of square footage in the shopping center it's located so maybe the landlord gives them a break on the lease knowing that it would be difficult to fill that space, it's a mystery to me.
As far as Kohl's go, the only reason I go in the store is to drop off an Amazon return which they make quite easy. I can't remember if I've ever bought anything in the store and frankly I don't know what it would be if I did.
For starters I really dislike the guessing game you have to play when it comes to figuring out the price of something. Instead of having tags on each item indicating a price, they use displays and have a type of a programmable electronic screen on top of the display and you have to then play mix and match to figure out exactly what the item you may be looking at costs. This may save them manpower hours in terms of having to mark everything that gets put out on the floor but it creates a miserable situation when it comes to quickly ascertaining the price of something you want to buy. All it takes is someone hanging something back up in the wrong display to make you have to go through all kinds of gyrations to figure out what it may cost. But in addition, the way things read on the screen don't always match the item you're looking at exactly so it's a big guessing game. The way I dealt with the problem was to download the Kohl's app on my phone so I can scan the item and get the price that way. But even stranger is that the price that will come up on the item scan on my phone is often not the price that's listed on the display board.
If this sounds confusing it's because it is.
But beyond all this, there's really nothing they sell that I'm interested in. Their clothing brands are similar to what you'd find in those Mervyn stores that used to be around. You won't find the top brands like Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren, they seem to be big on Levi's and their own brand. And as far as prices go, you're way better off just walking down a little bit and going into Marshalls instead.
It's kind of nice that department stores like this still exist that have separate housewares, small appliances, bedding, baby, children's, men's and women's and I think jewelry although they may have got rid of a lot of the jewelry because they don't have the jewelry counters they used to have when the store opened. But their prices are awful, even the sale prices aren't really sale prices. About the only merchandise that may be priced well is the junk you find under a red clearance sign which is usually damaged or as old as the hills.
I was trying to think of some good things to say about the store. They have free Wi-Fi. I'm trying to think of something else and I can't except for the Amazon drop off which is a godsend because I can actually walk to the store from where I live. For that reason alone I hope to store it stays in business but I know the day will come when it turns into yet another department store...
Read moreThis place was very dirty the store was not kept up. The on sale signs for your item when the cashier rings it up if you dont pay attention you will be charged normal price when the tags have a sale price and the big sale was an additonal 30% offf of that. I had to get a manager to over ride the orignal amount and i had to wait a long time for the manager because there is so many issues going on in the store that every customer was making a complaint and there is never anyone on the floor to help you and if you see an associate they ignore you and then you have to be rude to get her attention. I needed to check the price on a jacket and she wouldnt use the price check thing that she had right in her hand instead sent me to a poll with a price check on it and i couldnt find it, it did not stand out to notice it and after all that the dam thing did not work i faught it, as i was heading to go down stairs i seen the girl associate walking past me and i told her the price check thing did not work and can she check the price for me well the answer was NO because she was in the middle of something she was walking around with a young guy aSociate. That whole 2nd floor looked like a tornado went through it the shelves are not stocked nor organized there was stuff in these depts that didnt belong there. Its a ghost town up there also that people go up there to steal your merchandise like make up empty boxes thats why the shelves are so messed up because the people stealing couldnt fit all of it hell i dont know but that store was pathedic i drove from pinole to go to your store to purchase clothes for my fathers funeral. What a joke i was treated better by marshalls right next store to the Pleasant...
Read moreOn September 30th at 2pm I was at Kohl's.Location 2302 Monument Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, I was shopping in the baby department as I do about once a week with my daughter. My daughter was covered asleep in her car seat, I was rocking her with one hand and shopping with the other, when I was then approached by Pleasant Hill Police Department and a (loss prevention employee) who said I've been stealing there for months. I said that impossible because Ive never stolen anything in my life, he kept saying he had me on video and I said great show me and the police the video because it will prove I never took anything. He said "I don't have to do that". I then uncover my daughter in her stroller and the police find no merchandise concealed ,obviously. He then said I may have not been stealing today but I definitely have in the past. I said he was wrong over and over again. He then said he wanted me trespassed and if I returned in the year I'd be arrested. I was then forced off property by police with my baby and a trespass notice! Then the police informed me that the loss prevention didn't have a video of me stealing. He had a still shot of me shopping! This was purely profiling because I'm a new mom who comes to Kohl's in sweats pants and her baby covered while I shop. I was I'm humiliated. I was taken off property with my baby by police! No evidence no merchandise concealed, no video. Nothing because I never did that! This is a human rights violation. Mothers deserve to shop like everyone else without being harrassed because their children are covered in their car seats and they are wearing loose clothing....
