I went on an 8 hour fishing trip with my grandchildren, wife and son. I’m almost 72 years old and been on these fishing trips numerous times. I was standing beside my 19 year old granddaughter when she initially lowered her fishing line. It was slightly ruffled up so I securely held my pole and reached to help her. The captain of the boat, who is about twice my size, grabbed me by the shoulder and spun me around then grabbed my granddaughter’s fishing pole. I have had surgery on that shoulder and still have lots of pain. The captain began to lecture me that I couldn’t help my granddaughter! I tried to explain I was just helping with this simple problem. He was loud and rude and refused to allow me to talk. I walked away and didn’t fish anymore. My line was in the water only about 2-3 minutes. I was embarrassed in front of my grandchildren. This was supposed to be a happy end of summer trip with my grandchildren. I tried a couple times to explain to the captain that I was capable and just wanted to help my granddaughter….I wanted to just be a grandfather to her. But the captain continued to be loud and rude. He embarrassed me in front on my grandchildren! I didn’t attempt to fish anymore but sat in the cabin away from my grandchildren. I came home and called the General Manager of the Osprey Fishing Charters. He said the captain called him immediately after the incident explaining his error of how he handled the situation. The general manager said that he understood and assured me the captain would write me a letter of apology. I never received it. I waited about 3 more weeks and called the general manager again. He remembered my previous call. Once again he assured me the captain of the boat would communicate with his apology. I never heard from the captain nor the general manager. I only wanted a simple apology and assurance that he would not do that to another customer! It was supposed to be an exciting grandparent and grandchildren trip. It was expensive but should have been a fun trip. The captain ruined the trip immediately by physically grabbing my shoulder and spinning me around. He rudeness made it worse even as I attempted to explain why I was helping her. I would never recommend using the Osprey...
Read moreWhere to start ufff... first of all the deep sea fishing boat was not working. They took us all on the bay fishing boat which is waaaaay smaller yet the same amount of people. It was super crowded, shoulder to shoulder. The boat was slower so it took forever to get there. The crew was fishing on the way there and we couldnt fish until we got there which was only a short time there. Most of the trip was traveling. There was one cooler with drinks which sold out quickly and everyone was dehydrated and it made the experience horrible. We got a good spot to fish on the boat but then the crew wanted to give the spot to their buddies so when we were set they told us that we were fishing from the oposite side of the boat from which we were first told... which their buddies were already standing on ready to fish from the best spots. The same people on the good spots kept catching all the sharks over and over again and they wanted us in the middle to claim them as ours so we could keep them which the whole point was to go and catch our own shark not get one for free from somebody else who caught like 5 while we watched them dehydrated and feeling sick since the little boat rocket back and forth every time they fought a shark. At the end nobody wanted to fish anymore we were all dehydrated. Before we got off the boat they brought us all in to the inside of the boat and passed around a clear can in front of everyone so that you felt obligated to tip them as if they deserved it. Sure I would have tiped some $40 if me and my wife had caught at least one fish but we didnt and their buddies who caught them all didnt tip either yet they were quick to complain how they barely got any tips. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING...
Read moreMy family and I fish a lot of charters. On August 7, 2018 we fished on the Bay King. This was our best outing on the Bay King ever. Captain Evan, and the deckhand JJ were excellent and worked very hard to find the fish. Started slow and kept looking, changed bait and moved the boat often....until we found them. It was literally fish as fast as you could, hookem, land em and the other deckhand whose name I couldn’t get, was right there to hand you bait, unhook your fish and let you keep fishing. Captain Evan began fishing, would hook a fish and allow the youngsters on the charter to land them. And he caught some huge fish including two red snapper, letting the inexperienced young anglers fight the fish. The charter ended at noon and because we were still catching fish, the Captain and crew let us continue well after the charter was over. Everyone who fished caught fish. Other families on board caught stringers of 25-50 fish. Ironically, the fishing forecast for the Laguna Madre was poor. We drift fished the channel and jetties and were the last charter in. I would recommend this charter to anyone who likes to fish or anyone who likes to fish with their children. There were at least 12 very young anglers on this charter and the Captain and crew made sure they were involved and many pictures and memories were taken. Our party of four adults could not eat all the fish we caught in one meal. I’ll never use another charter in South...
