When you live in Port Isabel year round, the limited food options can get old pretty quick so when a new place pops up, you’re excited to give it a try. With that being said, we were beyond disappointed by our visit. Our waitress/ bartender (wasn’t able to catch her name from how impersonal she was with long black hair) was non-accommodating and seemed annoyed anytime we would ask her for something or a question. Also, this place is a serve yourself type-facility which isn’t an issue as long as you’re told. Because the restaurant was new, we were unfamiliar with their operations and our party was left waiting around continuously until the very end when we were made aware of the situation. The mahi fish taco’s were terrible and actually inedible. They had a strong fishy after taste to where the fish had to be removed and the tacos eaten without any meat. The chicken sandwich was bland and extra sauce was needed to give it flavor which still lacked. Between 3 beers and 2 meals, our total of $70 ( plus tip) did not meet expectations. 1-star is given for the cleanliness and atmosphere of the restaurant. Sadly, our party of 5 will not be returning and Hopper Haus will not be a restaurant of choice for us in the future. Supporting local businesses is a huge selling point for us, but with the service, pricing, food, and experience, we were left...

🐺 Great Spot for a Bite and a Drink – Dog-Friendly Too!

Stopped by Hopper Haus Bar & Grill for lunch with my dog and had a great experience. I sat on the front patio, which was perfect in terms of temperature and shade, though the back patio looked even better—just a little too sunny at the time. The traffic was a bit loud, but that’s to be expected on a busy Friday with tourists rolling into town.

Service was excellent—fast, friendly, and attentive. I might have even spoken with the owner a few times as he checked in to make sure everything was good. I ordered the Lettuce Wrap Shrimp Tacos, which came in a crisp romaine leaf with shrimp, cabbage, cheese, and other fresh toppings. They were delicious and paired well with the crispy criss-cut waffle fries. The bar had a great selection of beers on tap, but I went with a cider, which was a nice, refreshing choice.

From what I’ve heard, this place really comes alive at night, with trivia nights, live music, and even a chance to chat with SpaceX employees and locals. Definitely planning to come back and check it out in the evening.

If you’re looking for good food, fast service, and a laid-back patio atmosphere (dog-friendly, too!), Hopper Haus is worth a...

Good atmosphere had so much potential. HORRIBLE service! Some older lady i think she was old i dont know, but dyed blonde hair in a low bun had the worst resting face ever. Kitchen apparently closes at 10pm and we came in at 9:20pm, if they were going to be THAT bothered that we came in while they were STILL serving food, they shouldve just told us kitchen closed at 9. She was the most bothered when we ordered food, seemed so annoyed and irritated we were here apparently ordering cause why would we be ordering food in a place that sells food? As she was dropping off our food she didnt even bother simply putting the plates down, she hovered the plate OVER me while im putting food in my mouth saying "here" and im mouth food taco deep turning to her trying to mouth thank you with a mouth full because she couldnt just simply put the food down, almost walking away before i can even grab the plate she handed over and i put it down. If i wouldve known coming to support this business was going to get people mad, I wouldnt have done it. Was hoping food would make up for the service, and was dissapointed as well. Go...

If you're looking for German beer or food, this isn't the place to go as the name might imply. They had a bratwurst on the menu and no German beers on tap. Initially disappointed. But, I figure I'd give it a shot. So, I went with a flight of 4 beers and the pretzel bites. For the flight, I tried the pale ale, golden ale, dark lager, and stout. I know that tastes tend to vary, but none of those beers left an impression on me. The pretzel bites weren't good, more like bread balls with coarse salt. As I wasn't feeling confident with any more tap beers, I opted to try for bottled. They said they had about 25-30 different bottled beers. But, the downside is there was no beer menu, and no one knew what all was in stock. Some things that were nice about this place was the large patio out back with nice propane heaters. There were a few large TVs, including the massive projected one on the side of a wall. Also, the service was very friendly and prompt. Bottom line. Very nice ambiance and good service. Not sure on the food or tap selection.

Every time i have been to the Hopper Haus I have had a great experience! The beer selection is great, I like how I get to try something new every week. The food has always been awesome and the wait time is short. They have really good mexican street tacos and quesadillas, but the fish tacos and chicken salad sandwich (OG) are my favorite. They also have great burgers they make from scratch, but if you're vegetarian they have plenty of options for you! Can't forget about how delicious the german chocolate cheesecake is! Really cures my daily chocolate cravings. The staff is super nice and you can tell the owners are doing this because they want to create something special for their community. The garden patio is cool, I like how they are incorporating native plants. Overall, just a really nice atmosphere to chill at and charge your Telsa if you have one!
