Pirates Landing Restaurant — Restaurant in Port Isabel

I’m from Houston and took my father to eat here for his birthday. When they took us to our table we waited for a good 15-20 minutes before someone came to ask us if someone had gotten our order for drinks. ( Other people got there after us and were immediately served with their drinks) Then our food was not brought out how we ordered it. The waiter didn’t acknowledge we were even there… Horrible. The food was alright not what we expected. So when it came time to pay the guy kept saying he was having trouble with the machine and even put my debit card on another table and went to help someone else. (Someone could have passed and taken my debit card.) I asked for the total since he didn’t even tell me just asked for my debit card to pay. So it was $157 with some cents. He came back 7 minutes later and just me to sign but I saw an amount of $187 with cents. The waiter then said “Oh don’t worry about adding tip I already added the tip.” So he tipped himself $29 (Not worth the service he gave us.) I asked to speak to a manager to ask for the tip back and make him aware as to why I wasn’t going to tip him that but the manager didn’t even let us talk. He got the receipt and told us he would fix the waitress mistake and walked away. 10 minutes passed and the waitress came back with my receipt with my refund but never asked for my debit card to put the money back in my card. So now I’m checking my bank to see if I got the money back but I haven’t received anything. To my luck I looked at the receipt and it says cash was given to me which that never happened. Basically they still managed to keep those $29 for tip. I honestly wouldn’t of mind tipping that if we would of gotten served right and our food was how we ordered it. Very unprofessional of them to to that to people. They are luck I wasn’t able to go back to complain about to hat they did since my parents live far and I live in Houston. Never again will I go to that place. I don’t remember the waitress name but his a skinny tall brown skin (Mexican guy) and the manager is Short white skin older person. Y’all should be ashamed for doing people dirty. The funny part is that when the waiter handed me the receipt they just kept standing there as if something was going on but I never looked at my receipt just walked out. Horrible...

Worst experience I’ve had in years! Let me start by saying we set down around 1105 after 30 min wait. Noticed we only had breakfast menus, went to the host stand and requested lunch menus at the time we were told by the rude host “no you can’t order lunch only breakfast since you have those menus” excuse me what???? You guys are actively handing out lunch menus and refusing to let my table order lunch, fine this is a little annoying but I can handle it, a family member then went and asked someone else if we could please have lunch menus and it was explained to us again that no we can only eat breakfast mind you at this point it’s been 15 mins since we set down and not a single person has come by to take our drink order… we waited patiently and at 1125 finally asked if we could have some type of service.(there were only 4 tables sat) By now I would’ve left but my husband told me to chill things would get better… in fact it only got worse from here. 1150 still waiting on food for food and we started noticing people asking for the manager so I also wanted to talk to the manager (I never do this because my mom is a Karen and I have always been embarrassed to do so.) The manager Dennis came and talked to us and it was just excuse after excuse of really invalid excuses he got out of the situation by telling me he would check on our food… we waited another 15 mins from then to get our food. When we received the food it was cold, my sons pancakes were not cooked through, my eggs were pretty much raw when I ordered them over medium. My husband’s omelette was ice cold. This was a total waste of $90. I’m so disappointed because we’ve always wanted to come check this place out and finally decided to go before heading home from SPI. The establishment and all the people I interacted with (bedside the sweet younger guy that wasn’t our waiter but tried to make things better by helping out our waitress) are definitely not cut out to work in hospitality service they...

July 30, 2023 update- the food was good but this time the restaurant has a leaking ac unit and water would drop on the food as the wait stress would bring to you when they walk under it. The restroom was very dirty and urine all over the floor. I informed the front desk but they didn't do anything by the time I left. The restroom was still dirty and no slippery when wet sign placed in the aisle . The waiter was resigned to another section and we waited again like the last time I reviewed for my check to pay. I recommend not to eat here if possible until they get their customer service up. (My last visit review to follow) After ordering my food from my assigned waiter, another waitress served my family the wrong drinks when I politely told her the drinks were wrong, she started to argue that those were the drinks I ordered. I had to tell her that I know what I ordered and told her to get with my assigned waiter. After getting my order corrected. My plate was served 15 minutes after the rest of my family got thiers. The waiter did apologize for the delay. If it wasn't for the assigned waiter providing outstanding customer service and following through with correcting the order the score would have been lower. I've been to this establishment many times and never had a problem. They need to remind the staff that the customer is the one paying their hard earned money for a pleasant meal.
