Treasures of the Gulf Museum — Attraction in Port Isabel

This museum was over-the-top FANTASTIC! I could have spent days in it reading through and pouring over numerous historical artifacts, data, and top-notch, exhibits that are usually seen and on display in larger museums. This is truly a secret that must be shared. So much history tucked away in this gem. Due to time constraints, I only spent about an hour in this wonderful place! Truth be told, I actually need about a day to soak in all of the information. The museum is laid out in a chronological order documenting shipwrecks going back to the 1500's. The exhibits go into great detail about what life on a ship would have been like at that time, and there are numerous artifacts that have been found that are also on display. Truly a treasure! Very informative, great historical facts. We definitely enjoyed the museum. However, the interactive displays did not work. I believe the museum needs additional revenue, not sure if the city and county are providing funds for additional upkeep. All in all, great wealth of information about the region and...
