I presented to the ER with concerns of a mass in my eye. I walked through security/metal detector and was immediately advised to complete the check in process which was also the person who completed registration in the middle of the visit. I was advised to have a seat in the waiting area and was sitting next to an older gentleman who was struggling to breathe, with a family member who was very concerned for him. The family member was begging for assistance and expressed frustration for why he was not being placed in a room. I watched this man struggle to breathe for 45+ mins until finally he was taken to the back.
Upon being brought to the back for triage, the blood pressure cuff did not work and took 5 minutes to figure out why it wasn’t working (it was the wrong sleeve size). I advised the RN of my concerns and in the middle of conversing with her, another nurse comes back to complete the triage. It was evident at this point, that the place had no order and was operating in complete chaos. I was brought back to a quick care room and was greeted by a PA within a few minutes. The presenting PA touched the mass in my eye and advised that it was “probably a blocked tear duct or something”. Mind you, basic eye anatomy would tell you that the lump is above the lacrimal sac and the tear duct. The PA looked utterly out of her element and completely overwhelmed. She had no interest in my pressing issue and after advising it was most likely a blocked tear duct, she advised that I was already seen by Halifax a few months ago and asked if I had labs she could view as requesting them from AdventHealth would “take way to long”. The PA leaves after reviewing my lab work and doesn’t return at all. I did not get to speak with the attending physician—nothing. I was greeted by registration, while sobbing out of fear, and then immediately given discharge paperwork. I was shocked that I was being discharged, without consulting with anyone. I was trying to figure out the reasoning behind my discharge with the RN who conducted my triage. While speaking, other RN’s are coming in asking her questions completely cutting me off. This happened at the minimum 3x and by the time the RN brought herself back to our conversation, she forgot what she was saying. A complete waste of time, unprofessional staff, the ceiling has literal dust pouring out it, and all of the staff lack bedside manner and compassion. Very disheartened by my experience at...
Read moreI had the BEST experience here at Halifax ER from the time I walked in the door with the security guard even making me feel comfortable. Everyone was so kind and compassionate and they weren’t going to let me leave until they figured out where my 8-10 pain was coming from, unlike the Advanced Urgent Care I went to right before where the Dr basically dismissed me because I started crying because I was in so much pain and all she would give me was Ibuprofen, in which I had told her that hadn’t been able to touch my pain. At Halifax ER they were very thorough running every test they thought they needed to figure out in which they did and gave me some meds there to take some of the pain away and prescribed medicine to help with my diagnosis. I’m on vacation here for a month so wasn’t able to see my regular doctor. I would definitely recommend this place and probably in hindsight wouldn’t go to any Urgent Care here again knowing that if they did /needed X-rays you might have to wait a day to get the results and any medication or relief. I would just go directly to Halifax ER!! They...
Read moreSo Halifax I see always has a bad rep! I have been there twice now. Once for myself when I was super sick with Covid. I nearly died from it and they were so caring. I wish I remembered the nurses names but its been over a year now. Now tonight I had to take my son in for a bike injury that we though his arm was broken. With no others able to do the X Rays at the time we went to the ER here. First, Nicole did the intake and while I did that Jessica tended to my son. Normally my wife does all that paper work and check in stuff with things like this and Nicole made it easy for me lol. Jessica and Nicole were absolutely amazing with my son. They took him back quickly and tried to make sure he was as comfortable as he could be. Got his X Rays done and thankfully not a break! Again both Jessica and Nicole came in and wrapped him up in a brace and told me all we needed to do. Thank you both of you for making our experience a good one (well as good as can be in...
