If you have a chance to stop in Bandon or Gold beach for food before coming to Ray's, do so! You'll be better served. You'll spend less and get more.
This store is way toooooo expensive. This store has been higher than everyone else since pre covid. It continues to skyrocket. As the only grocery in town you'd think they'd be into community by providing good food for the best prices. But the owners are not local. C&K Markets doesn't care. Whoever sets prices at Ray's needs to live at retirement level and experience how impossible it is to have a really healthy eating regimen trying to afford Ray's in Port Orford.
Not only is it expensive but the produce is horrible and rots the minute you store it! I've taken bad strawberries back numerous times.
They have a bathroom but it's always dirty. Sometimes filthy. Someone needs to check it hourly.
Availability sucks, too. Camo beer is a favorite of my friend but each day the case is empty and we have to get a clerk to check the back. Sometimes they're all out. Why not keep popular items in stock? Today an item that's to be used regularly...is out again . Good I still have some. Excedrin is another, they're more often out.
If I had a vehicle I would visit McKay's in Bandon. Great deli, too! No dried out hard as rock chicken strips! Ray's deli leaves a LOT to be disired, though when fresh, it's good. They try hard in the deli. I'll give them that.
Courtesy....there are a couple of problem clerks. One is a checker. Clearly doesn't want to be there. Heavy sighs, harumphs, disgusted looks. But in the past few days she's been better. We'll see. 🙏
Port Orford just needs to expand the co-op!
Or C&K Markets might remember its humanity and give us fair prices. Just fair is all I ask. Not alll of us move here as retired folk looking to retire in a nice place. We are a community that is poor enough to need food stamps and working people who make just enough but too much for food stamps.
We struggle in our town. That's well known. Please look into this. Thankyou sincerely.

Read moreAmongst other reasons why you should not shop here..... Tami was the checkers name.. a nice young "black" gentleman with 3 "less than normally" active girls for the ages between 9 months and 7 yrs stood before me. We had brief pleasant conversation, as they had just moved here from Portland. As he finished checking out, "Tami the checker" says in an unusually loud voice... "I will refund you the bag fee, because you are using EBT.." As it came to be my turn, she says to me... "I just get drained when kids like this are so active" what??? Where is this comment coming from? Are you looking for my approval for your maybe racist or just insensitive comment for a young family trying to survive? Get real lady. They did nothing more than buy some basics food supplies (not ribeye steak and ice cream)... I'm sure the gentleman won't read this, but if you do... try using Sam's checkout next time. She is a sweetheart...
Read moreLOVE this store. There is only one gruff guy who works there, who seems to hate life. The guy didn't greet my son, didn't tell him the total of his items or even say thank you. Not one word spoken.
However, other than that dork, the rest of the employees are just lovely, a few of them very witty and friendly. The guy outside who runs the bbq is hilarious. I wish I had caught his name. He is quick to greet every single person who walks up to the store. We have twice rented a beach house in Port Orford over the past year, and we stock up on all of our food and beverages at Ray's.
I'm from the Seattle area, and didn't realize Ray's was a chain. I do like these types of smaller grocers as opposed to the big retailers. Reminds me of when I worked for my parents when they owned Shop...
