This dog park sucks! It’s like a small jail yard for dogs. Only 2 benches for people, not ADA friendly. Not easy to get to sidewalk-wise or paths from nearby buildings. *Spiky sand/gravel* for dog paws, that when it’s wet goes on their ball/toys and then in their mouths. Poop everywhere. No trees for shade on a hot day. Boring yard with no engagement for anyone but mostly dogs. ONE trash can with a tight flap to dispose of waste in. No one wants to try shoving a bag of hot poop through a trash can that doesn’t open easily while holding a leash and whatever else. The interior gate (double gates for pet safety) didn’t latch and is just open. The shape of the park doesn’t allow enough room to throw a ball for more than one dog without it being cramped for everyone. I guess this park is fine is you like an unattended dog litter box and nothing else. Definitely NOT a ā€œparkā€ for fun or leisure. Whoever designed this for aesthetics or functionality needs to be fired.

Not a large dog park, but there are two separate fenced areas designated for large or small dogs. Entrances are double-gated, with trash cans inside both areas. Water is only available on the large-dog side, but people are cool enough to pass a bowl over the fence for a fill-up. The ground is all dirt/gravel, but is level and well-maintained. Not shaded in the middle of the day. Only one bench on the small-dog side, but a few on the large-dog side. Both sides can get pretty busy at peak hours, but paid street parking is generally available nearby, so this dog park is frequented by both the surrounding condo-dwellers, as well as folks within easy driving distance. Overall, a nice, clean place for dogs to either socialize or simply sniff about at their own pace.

We were all alone for awhile. One look at us sent many potential parkers the opposite direction šŸ˜”. It was looking like no playmate for Chloe but out of nowhere Hercules ( 4year old black lab) comes in giving us two hours of playtime, while many onlookers watched with amazement. Great day for us, rain and all!

Overall, this dog area is not really created with dog's or people's comfort in mind. It's the place you take your dog if you live nearby because they need to be social for a bit.

The good parts about it: It has the option to separate small dogs from big dogs if needed.

It has a drinking water fountain that usually works.

Nearby you can grab a coffee/tea at Snow Bunny or Ovation. Both cafes love dogs.

The ick parts about it: The ground is a type of coarse sand/gravel that smells terrible on hot days. It's pretty easy for dogs to get the sand in between their paws and kick it around in one another's face. I see the drainage but I don't know how it is cleaned. I hope someone responds to educate.

For people it's not ideal to sit and enjoy watching the dogs play. There is no shade and the enclosure is metal. The sun beats down on the area immediately. There are a couple of benches inside but there is something about sitting with your shoes in that sand/gravel that feels so harsh.

Dogs don't really have a lot of room to run so if more than a few dogs are in there it can be pretty crowded and tensions run high between both people and dogs.

If you're looking for an area nearby where your bigger dog can run out some energy - I would go to Wallace instead. It's in front of Chapman Elementary.

The Pearl has always needed a good park for dogs. It wouldn't surprise me if dogs outnumber people in the district. It would feel so much better with some type of shade installed and some softer...
