Used to have a great atmosphere, I'd often go through here when the weather was nice when on my way to go shopping, pretty trees and grass and people enjoying themselves, the dog park always had a bunch of people to talk to and dogs to play with, a community gem.
The homeless continuously steal the dog park section from us and make it very risky to be on foot and alone. As soon as it's been cleaned out, it doesn't take long before they come back. Right now there's even a burnt down car sitting on the grass. It is very frustrating, they've even taken down the fence, not that I'd ever dare letting my dog run free with the sharp stuff hidden in the grass from now on anyway, the fence used to be so nice. Not sure if he could've done anything but definitely not something I feel my 9-year-old should witness. It would be nice if they could do a little more about the surrounding distractions to get this park cleaned...
Read moreNice fields but all the vagrants around the park made for more items being missing. Also people digging through the trash every couple hours was not really what I like to see. On top of that there was not enough parking so I had to park in the entrance of the additional parking that was locked up and got a parking ticket. Why on Earth you would pack up the gravel parking lot when the asphalt parking lot is not is beyond me. So the city of Portland has the resources to have a meter maid patrol the park but not a officer to keep the homeless from ruining the park and the experience of watching your kids enjoy...
