I went to get a manicure and pedicure done because I was going to a wedding. It was easy to make an appointment online, but when I showed to the salon, it was clear that there weren't enough techs for the booked appointments. I was seated in one of my massage chairs immediately after I got there, but then had to wait 20 minutes along with another lady who had also booked an appointment. Finally the owner came over and explained that two techs had to go to the hospital, so they were short staffed. While I understand things happen, it's frustrating that she wasn't transparent when I first got there, and instead made me wait 20 minutes before being truthful about the delay. She then offered to do my manicure. I asked her how long it would take for my pedicure and manicure as I had already been waiting 20 minutes, and she told me an hour.
She did my manicure, but rushed through the whole thing while talking on the phone with someone through her airpod and being distracted by her phone while working on my nails. As she was painting my nails, it was clear the color I had picked off the sample was not matching what she was painting. I had to bring it to her attention that it was not the same. She fixed it, but sloppily because my nail is not a uniform color.
Once done with my manicure, she then informed me that due to the color I picked, it would be $47 for the manicure. I was shocked because I don't get my nails done often, so did not realize the color I picked was going to be more. There are also no prices posted in the salon from what I saw. She informed me that she had asked me whether I had wanted regular or select color, but also, I don't know what that means since I rarely get my nails done. She did discount my manicure, but only after I pointed out for $47, it needed to be better (the edges around my nails were not clean). She said that once my pedicure was done she would clean up around the edges.
My pedicure with Sky was waaay better. She was very meticulous and cleaned up on the edges well. My toes look great!
After my toes were done drying, the owner came to bring me up to the front to pay. I had to remind her that she said she would clean up the edges of my nails, which thankfully she did. I ended up leaving 2 hours after I first arrived to the salon.
I think the employees seem nice and hard working, but I was really turned off by the lack of transparency about why my appointment was delayed and pricing. I totally understand that life happens and employees call out, but there should be respect for a client's time. It felt like I was being nickel and dimed for work that was ultimately not that good.
I posted photos from what they looked like at the salon prior to having the edges cleaned up to what they look like 4 days later. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. One of my coworkers thought I had done my...
Read moreI really wanted this to go well based on other reviews, unfortunately not the experience I had. The positives: The salon is beautifully decorated, large and very clean. I saw thorough cleaning procedures done while I was there. Then: I booked an online appt for the following morning for a gel mani/pedi for the $89 listed, I got a text after, telling me(not asking) to come in 45 mins later than what I booked. Angie was very nice though it was difficult to communicate what I was asking for. I was willing to pay more for a more intricate design and didn’t know how to book this option. I asked and basically just told to pick a color. I chose the simplest pedicure option to keep the price what I anticipated. I was not told anything else was an up charge. I was there from 11:00-1:30, 2.5 hours for a mani/pedi. She did a lot cleaning up work on my toe nails which was much appreciated however it took so long. My gel manicure from the start was sloppy, they are uneven, had fuzz painted into them and didn’t even cover my full nails to start. The cuticle care was rough without looking good after. It’s been one week and my gel manicure has started to lift on many fingers. I was charged $111 at the end. I was baffled but had been there so long I just wanted to leave. I tend to have the worst luck finding the right nail tech or salon and disappointed this was...
Read moreI am so sad about my experience! I’m giving two stars because my pedicure turned out great. I wish I could say the same for my manicure.
I got a gel manicure last Tuesday. When I left, I noticed it was lumpy and bubbly in some places, but I was going out of town so I didn’t have time to get it redone. A few days later, the gel started chipping and peeling. The nail on my left ring finger cracked. I got back to town Tuesday and there was already significant damage.
I was finally able to get them fixed today, but at this point I just wanted the gel removed, as it was clear the manicure was not well done.
I called to ask if they could remove the gels and they said yes. But when I arrived they said it would be $10. The manicure didn’t even last a week and they wanted me to pay to get it removed. They said I could have the nail that was chipped redone, but there were multiple chipped and peeling nails, and the manicure was not cured correctly in the first place, so I just wanted removal.
If they had simply removed the gel, I would have given them a second chance. I really wanted Kim’s to be my nail salon as they are located so conveniently to me! But this whole experience left a bad taste...
