Favorite place for all things matcha!
First time coming here on Mothers Day! Iām sad I didnāt discover this place sooner. We loved it so much we went back for more the next day, and let me tell you, we drove 30 minutes for this place. The ratings are accurate on here.
Yay- another place from the Bay Area has now made its way to PDX! This is my favorite place for a matcha drink (so far). Weāve been to a lot of boba spots, but I am a fan of their matcha quality. Just a tad sweet and more bitter, just how I like it. You can really taste the quality of the powder/tea. Other places, the matcha drinks are too sweet or watered down.
Weāve tried their iced matcha, matcha frappe, matcha ice cream in a waffle cone, and matcha with jelly. The matcha ice cream and frappe are so deliciously creamy, oh my. Warning: you may get addicted! Itās creamy but isnāt overly sweet. My daughter loves it! Iām not supposed to have dairy, but I treated myself to that frappe and thoroughly enjoyed my treat.
If youāre allergic to dairy, I suggest getting the iced matcha drink. They canāt substitute for milk alternatives, so thatās a good option.
I like that they feature new flavors for a limited time to keep things fun and interesting. I canāt wait for their ube items to come back!
This is a popular spot though. So plan for it to be a little busy on weekends. The staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of my all-time favorite places for a little treat. Quality of menu items is satisfactory and is priced fair. My favorite place of all time for kakigori. As the name implies this is a matcha oriented sweets shop so you must love matcha if this place would be in your taste. The service has always been good, the ladies working here have always been polite, polished and have made the orders quickly and efficiently. The place itself has always been perfectly clean and well-organized, it's lightly decorated and has a mild Zen vibe. The music is almost always on point normally very gentle j-pop playing in the background. Gentle enough that guests don't need to raise their voice if they have a conversation, keeping the atmosphere peaceful and also gentle enough that I normally read while I'm here. Atmosphere is much better than most other locations for similar treats. The majority of people I've seen come in here have always been respectable of the space. One of the few places I've been to repetitively where there's never been kids screaming their heads off or incredibly loud groups being unconscious of their surroundings. I hope this location continues to be what it is and wish to see a second opening of this place in my own neighborhood...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSummary - cute place to come eat some matcha desserts or drinks. Apparently the best matcha place to go to in Portland?
Food/drinks - A lot of options to choose from and depending on what you get, it can either be balanced in sweetness or not. Matcha itself wasnāt overpowering so it doesnāt taste like that herbal smell. The pricing can also be worth it depending on what you get.
Service - just depending on when you go and thankfully for us, our stuff came out relatively quick but that couldāve been bc we came in late at night.
Location - can have a little weird parking situation but the area itself does provide a lot of spaces. Interior wise, seating can be limited if itās crowded but is decorated cute and aesthetically overall.
My main issue with this place is the menu. If the second flavor, aka vanilla, isnāt going to be available, the menu should be changed to ārotating second flavorā instead. This was my second time here and again, I experienced being told how vanilla wasnāt available anymore. If that was the case, please just let it be known that the second flavor will just depend on the day/week/whatever.
Update: matcha latte is good but so not worth it as the proportion to price does not make...
