Update Management called to inform me that they let the two employees that did our service go and offered us to come back in so they can redo the service for free.
I have been going here since it opened and have loved this place over all the others in Portland, but I will definitely be going somewhere else. Over time the service has been deteriorating and the staff has always been argumentative. Every now and then I do get someone that is great like Joy and Twan. However, any other person has been terrible. The service is always rushed as if they just want you out of the chair. Today they showed me a running timer proving they would massage for 20 minutes and then left for 5 of those minutes to get the stuff to massage my legs. I also had to argue with them about putting more than just 1 coat of polish because the color I chose (which was a deep wine red) was much darker than what was on my toes (see photo). They argued with me and said that was the color I chose and I agreed the numbers were right, but I could see through the shellac because she only put 1 coat. They still only put 2 coats after saying they would put 3. My nail is flimsy and I can still see through the shellac. Absolutely not worth $75,...
Read moreI’m new to this area, and I have been to this salon about 4 or 5 times. I have always been courteous to make appointments before I come. I had a surgery that left me with stomach nerve pain so I have always ask to get my nails done while I get a pedicure to save me the degree of pain it causes for me sitting for too long to do each separately. My salon back north was alway happy to do that for me. That’s the reason I always make an appointment so they can be sure they can do this service for me.. When I arrived, they couldn’t do what I had ask because they said they they were understaffed. As soon and I started to get up to leave, suddenly they had someone to do it. They also said when I called to make the appointment, they told me they were busy?? I made the appointment the day before! So, I felt lied to and not treated like a customer. They acted as though they didn’t care. That’s not how to treat a customer. So, I called the nail salon down the street and they were happy to help me. Oct 4, 2023: I love Nina! I’ve tried a couple other salons closer to my home, but I’ve returned to Stars & Stripes. Nina is very very good at both pedicures and all manis. Go see her. You won’t be disappointed. You probably will need an appointment. If you’re going with a friend try Mia, too. Also good at whatever nails you wear and pedicures.
I also appreciate the size & layout of the salon. Never feels cramped. Always clean and bright.Hannah who manages the also is attentive and remembers names of repeat customers.
