We moved to the area almost 3.5 years ago. Many people, of course, have asked us why we chose this area over other parts of the country. The answer that we most often give, has only become truer in these last 3 years. We moved here for many reasons, but the reason at the heart was something special we felt at St. John the Baptist.
St. John is a real, organic community, with its share of imperfections and struggles, which we would take any day over the sometimes sterile, saccharine sweet, and robotic seeming communities we have seen elsewhere.
If you're planning to visit, take some old advice I was once given, commit to a month of Sundays (Wednesdays, Saturdays, and feast days are fine too). Then, reflect if this is the right community for you.
