I had an iPhone 6 screen replaced here. One week later the home button wasn't working and the screen was popping up. I brought it back and they corrected the issue. Not long after that the screen turned black and simply wouldn't power on at all. I brought it back and they first called me saying the battery was dead and they would have to replace it. They then called me again saying nothing was wrong with the battery and that I could pick it up. Upon arriving the girl at the front gave me the phone with two broken pieces that keep the screen held down. These are internal pieces that cannot be accessed unless the phone is opened up. She said that they found them like that and that the screen would no longer be held into place without a case. As a reasonable, thinking person, I inquired how I, who hadn't opened the phone, could break off the two pieces that hold the phone together. She was immediately defensive and when I insinuated that they were responsible for the damage she threw me out of the store. There are two types of cell phone repair stores, the ones that own up to mistakes and correct them for the customer and the type that break phones they are attempting to repair and then place the blame on the customer. This store is one of the latter. The screen was held in place prior to me bringing it in, this is the only place that opened and worked on the phone, twice. It's like taking your car in to get an oil change, returning to pick up your car, the mechanic handing you two pieces of the engine you can only get to by taking it apart and them asking to charge you to put your engine back together. What am I supposed to assume? Then, for the representatives first response to my accusation to be to throw me out of the store? Really terrible. I'm VERY mild mannered, my voice was never raised or upset. Kicking someone out for making a rational deduction that someone messed up the...
Read moreTerrible experience -- avoid working with these folks. Unbelievably difficult to schedule & overcharged after quoting me less, plus potentially did not actually repair the device.
Details:
I participated in a program that subsidized small local repair businesses with a $40 voucher. I called iDope to get a quote for replacing my phone's battery and was quoted $90. They additionally said they'd need to order the battery for my phone before I came in. I said yes, go ahead and order it.
When I called back a week later, they said they had no record of speaking with me and had not ordered the battery. I said no problem, I'll wait again. Long story short, this happened twice more with myself and one other person involved with the voucher program both calling in to confirm they'd ordered the battery, only to later again find out that they had "no record" of that.
When I finally was able to come in for my repair, I made the mistake of not confirming the quote they had previously given both me and the contact for the small business voucher program before handing over my phone. At the end of the service, they told me it would be $137.19 in total ($97.19 after the voucher.) I was shocked and asked what happened to the quote I had email evidence of them confirming to me and another person, but they just responded again that they had "no record" of giving me that quote and that the price "was always" that amount (not the case.)
Finally, to cap it all off, my battery is performing as poorly as it was prior to the repair, so I have a sneaking suspicion that they never actually ordered the battery and just removed and replaced the back cover on my phone.
I don't know why a business would do this to a person trying to participate in small business stimulus programs, but iDope successfully managed to deprive me of $100 and a good chunk of my (and others!) time without apparently actually...
Read moreI had my Samsung S9's cracked screen repaired and although it took about a week for the parts to come in and installation took longer than the promised 1 hour, I was happy.
About a week later, a mysterious dot appeared in the center of my screen and when I went to wipe it with a cloth, it spidered in to a crack that runs the length of my screen. I called iDope to let them know (because their website promises that they will repair faulty screen replacement done by their shop) but was told that it isn't their fault and they won't actually stand behind their product. I am super disappointed.
In addition to this, ever since the moment they replaced my screen, when I try to make a phone call, the person on the other end of the call can't hear me well. They all say it sounds like I am muffled. I have to speak to everyone either on speaker or using my bluetooth workout headphones. What a pain!
I am very unimpressed with this new $300 (now cracked) screen and the lack of accountability for how this whole process has turned out to be worse than what I had before, which was just a cracked screen.
The person I spoke with at iDope was very nice but curtly said they will try to fix the speaker problem that they caused but will only replace the screen if I pay for it. Uhm... pass. I'm definitely NOT going to let you touch my phone again and definitely not going to give you any more money. I hate giving bad reviews but I think it's important for our community to know what they can and can't expect from...
