I went to meet a friend for lunch downtown Poulsbo in March and chose the Cafe because we like the food. But much to our surprise - over half of all tables and chairs were occupied with people using free Internet, some even taking up more than one table space with their laptops - no place for two of us to sit together. So we had to leave and eat elsewhere - which we'll do from now on.
So we're wondering how such a business model makes financial sense. Customers buy one cup of coffee and sit there hogging space for an hour, while others trying to eat lunch and spending more money have to either stand and wait for a seat, or take it home....
I can see how that works at Starbucks - but not at a relatively small eatery - especially during prime time like lunch. Therefore I cannot recommend Cafe Cocina as a place to meetup even for a casual lunch. We might go back during summer when outside tables are available, unless they're also occupied by Internet...
Read moreGood food! Had the BLT with avocado and egg. Delish! Only complaint is the music. I know not everyone likes the same tunes, so I get that, but it's good for staff to remember that music in a business is primarily "for" the customers. Does everyone love loud rap music? People come to the coffee shop for different reasons -- coffee dates with friends, time for journaling, or to grab a quick bite. Jazz isn't my absolute fave, but there's a reason it's a staple at many coffee shops -- it's chill. The volume and frantic-ness of the tunes at Caffe Cocina usually means I'll be leaving earlier than I really wanted to. I think a more relaxing musical choice would make this coffee shop absolutely perfect! If the tunes have to be upbeat, then at least turn down the volume. Great view and a great place to...
