Fish Delights European Food Market — Local services in Poway

Just wanted to share my experience so others know what to expect. If you're planning to get a small piece of fish here be ready to spend half your day waiting for it. There's literally one person doing everything: helping customers, slicing, weighing, answering questions, and handing out samples. So if there are five people in line you're basically entering a survival game. Only the strongest make it to the front. While I was waiting, I saw a guy grab some ice cream from the freezer, wait around for like 20 minutes, then put his now-melted ice cream back into the freezer and leave. Yikes. The way this place is run really needs to change. If they're calling it European, maybe take some notes from how things are actually done in Europe... or the U.S. for that matter. Also, I recently pre-ordered some berries (they don't sell them by weight, only by pre-packed boxes). When I finally got them they were so sour I couldn't even eat them. Now I'm stuck with a box of disappointment. I'll give credit where it's due: they do have some tasty goodies, the staff is friendly, and the background music is always nice. But the store management needs a serious wake-up call. Honestly, they should just rename the place to Back to the USSR that way, at least people know what kind of chaos they're...

I have been a customer for years. They recently moved a few stores down to a bigger and newer location. They are still on the same plaza. If you crave Eastern European delicacies this is a place for you. The owners are very friendly, they always welcome you with a smile. The staff is nice and informative. They always recommend something delicious and let you taste before you buy. They sell a great variety of meats, cheeses, sweets, ice creams, baked goods, salads. Their fresh baked rye bread is so good it always sells out by the end of the day. If you don’t feel like cooking you can buy something ready made for dinner. The store also sells salmon roe and caviar at better prices then Costco and they sell caviar all year around. In addition the store offers catering. I highly...

Today I visited this store which used to be my favorite one. But this time I was dissatisfied with the service. I wanted to try this expensive deli fish - hot smoked sturgeon - and asked for three slices just to try and find out what the taste is. When I arrived home I discovered that two of three pieces were end pieces with skin. This reminded me the worst of Soviet times when the staff cheated.
