My Gym Poway — Local services in Poway

I want to thank My Gym and specifically Ms. Lyndsay and Ms. Emily for making our daughters 5th birthday the absolute BEST! With our daughter’s birthday being in Summer and a lot of her friends not comfortable in a pool just yet, we wanted an experience where we weren’t in the heat and the kids could have a ton of fun. We opted for My Gym because Ms. Lyndsay was a teacher that would hold My Gym classes at our daughters school and we LOVED her energy, how she kept the kids engaged, etc. Although we had never been to the actual Poway facility we booked our party and it ended up being the best decision ever.

The party was 1.5 hours total and we had 15 minutes before our start and the end of the party to setup and cleanup. We kept things simple and did tablecloths, a banner, and a few small table decorations — both Ms. Emily and Ms. Lyndsay helped decorate as well. Once it was party time each participating kiddo had to put on MyGym socks and Ms. Lyndsay and I (birthday girl mom) spoke about Emmas likes, requests, etc…. Our daughter requested her own music playlist as she chose a song for each kiddo attending and wanted a Spiderman/Pokemon party- that included the Floor is Lava and bubbles — that’s exactly what we did.

Once majority of our guests came, Ms. Lyndsay brought all the kids to the mat and did circle time to set expectations and kick it off by wishing our daughter a happy birthday. The time spent was perfect. We had the first 10 minutes of independent play, followed by 30~ ish minutes with coordinated activities (I.e. Pokemon ball game, floor is lava and jumping over obstacles) kids then washed hands we took a break to eat and sing happy birthday with cupcakes, then hit the floor again with more activities. Although the party time was 1.5 hours everything went without a hitch we had a total of 18 kids ranging from 13 months - 8 yo and every single one of them had a great time AND something to do. Which made for a great party for all!! I should also state that our kiddos are ACTIVE! Despite how active they are they had a PHENOMENAL time. Ending the party with the zip line was a HUGE hit and a great way to end things on such a high note.

Helpful Tips As a Customer:

My Gym works best communicating via text, when I called it was VERY hit or miss that they answered because they are constantly facilitating classes or hosting parties. If you text you get the fastest response. Email was a 24 hour response, but I don’t mind texting at all - this might be a negative for others.

Every participating kiddo needs to wear MyGym socks that will need to be purchased

Space is limited and 20 kids max is the limit, be mindful of siblings because numbers can increase rapidly

We bought pizza at Rosaria’s which is a few businesses down and they were PERFECT! They cut our pizzas in squares for the kiddos and it was so tasty! Delicious, reasonable, and we supported a small business which is GREAT!

We just did a birthday party for our 3 year old and I felt like it was nothing like what I read in the reviews. We had approx 16 kids and their parents. The space felt very crowded. The area for food and drinks is sooo small that parents were barely able to find a place to grab a bite, I felt it was not completely planned through by the owner or organizers for packages with up to 20 kids… it took a long time to serve food to all kids individually and given that the event is only 1.5 hours and each kid had to wait the turn - it felt like waste of time and lots of kids lost interest and wanted to go play. It definitely requires some changes on organization side as I felt the experience wasn’t worth money we spent. I felt like games could be much better incorporated into the free play … every 7-10 mins kids were interrupted with the game, it felt a bit annoying even for me as a parent even though I asked to minimize games. It’s a great program and most of the staff is kind,welcoming,and professional when it comes to running the program and having the personality that goes with it. (Working with kids) To be completely honest some of the workers don’t seem like they are happy working there and it makes it a bit so fun environment to go , I mean you applied for the job for a reason… one thing is being unexperienced or “new” and another to literally look and act as if you don’t want to be there and don’t even like kids. It only sucks because I pay to be there we should at least be welcomed when arriving! Btw these girls deserve a fair chance to be trained properly but really just being kinder is all it takes . I’m just trying to teach my kids socializing skills and it doesn’t help to walk into a an environment like this around...
