I hate leaving bad reviews for any place, but this was just a bad experience. I bought a (still in factory warranty) 2018 Jeep Renegade here, and I'd like to share what happened. First of all, the manager - Nick - really creeps me out. His mechanical smile gives me the shivers. Anyways, I mentioned to the salesman Gilbert (who was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the process) that I had found a very similar vehicle for cheaper down in Phoenix, and asked if they would price match. He introduced me to Nick, who reluctantly said that he would do so. I asked if we could get a ballpark figure of the terms without running my credit check since I had already done so twice within a couple days and he immediately said no, not whatsoever. I walked out at that point and continued looking elsewhere.
A week later I came back, because I really wanted the Jeep. Brad was kind enough to offer me an extended test drive, but I had to stop and put gas in the car for fear of running out on the side of the road. Regardless, I fell in love with the Renegade and decided to buy it. At this point, I had learned that credit checks for auto loans are grouped together and viewed as one of done within a short amount of time from each other. So I went back to the dealership and told the to start the financing process. Two hours later, I hadn't received an answer and was told the banks had closed for the day but that it looked like I would be approved for around 7% which sounded okay. I was told I'd be hearing back from the first thing, at around 9am, so when I hadn't heard anything back from them at 10:00 I called. Karl in financing said that it would be just another 15 minutes. Finally at about 12:30, they called back saying I had been approved and to come back in. I debated putting it off for another day since I had to work at 2pm, but honestly I was worried that the Jeep would get sold to another person by then. I live 25 minutes away but it seemed like such a simple process. I was wrong and ended up almost two hours late for work and with a 10.8% interest rate.
This is the part that rubbed me wrong on the most levels. While looking over the finance agreement, I saw a $2,600 fee for "Serv cont" and asked Gilbert about it, who said to talk to Karl. Karl said it was an extended warranty and the salesman was supposed to have mentioned it, and I'd have to speak with Nick about it. Nick said that there was nothing he could do about the charge unless I was to put $2,500 down because he had "taken so much off the front" to price match and that the BANK required that the fee be "added in the back." This is so far from the truth that it's not even funny. Banks prefer to loan LESS money because it is more likely that they will get paid... Anyways, I nearly walked out and Karl worked it out to be 4yrs/48,000 miles and just over half the price at about $1,700 but there was nothing else I could do. I reluctantly agreed and eventually everything was signed.
Before I finish, I need to add info about the condition of the vehicle when I test drove and purchased it. The front left tire was low on air, both front tires had very low tread/life left, the service oil light was on, a "service passive entry" light was on, the fuel was almost empty, and the interior was dirty. It really worried me that I had no clue when the oil was changed or if it had ever even been serviced... Almost any place will rotate the tires when the oil is changed.
But I was hooked... it was the newest all-wheel drive car with "low" miles and still in factory warranty that I could find locally, and they gave me more than I expected for my trade-in.
To finish the story: I went in to pay the remainder of the down payment yesterday, 6 days after purchasing the car. Nick met me, I asked about putting more down in place of a warranty. He said his finance manager was out, come back in an hour. I left and texted Gilbert, who said that was false. Came back in, spoke with Karl, and cancelled the warranty. Took maybe 5 minutes. Can't see how it was "required" yet that easy...
Read moreWe bought a car from them a little under 3 years ago. We have had nothing but problems with it. I was actually looking at another car but the sales guy was determined to sell me my car because it has low miles.. now I see why they wanted to get rid of it. We had them put a new engine in it recently and I have had to bring it back twice since I got it back not even a month. But of course they have every excuse in the book that they're not responsible for any of the new issues. Now they did agree to put the new hoses on at no cost but when they didn't clap the radiator hose on and it blew leaving us broken down on I17 having to pay a $200 because it overheated since there was no water in it since the hose blew. The mechanic very nice guy but the management however is absolutely horrible I told him I'd be writing a review he told me he would reply back saying that I was trying to get stuff out of them.. great customer service huh? So do not buy from them they sell lemons which you can see and other reviews and their management staff refuse to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong. Even the general manager pretty much told me they'll fix the car but never come back... dude we bought this car from you. You installed the new engine while leaving out screws not clamping hoses causing it to overheat possibly ruining the new engine and of course you won't take responsibility for that. Shame on oxendale maybe need to take it higher than the so-called general manager who won't take responsibility for anything . When the tow truck driver was putting it on the truck and was underneath getting it hooked up he was the one that pointed out that no hoses were even secured or and that there were screws missing everywhere. He gave us his phone number just in case this go to legal action. I believe since my 85 year old father was helping me pay for this that they were taking advantage over an old man causing more damage so more money could be dished out to them.
Update we took our mountaineer in there about the same time to get the pulley fixed and funny thing is right after we got it out of the shop the mountaineer also overheated is it a coincidence I don't think so I really think they're trying to take my dad for a ride for his money.. shame on you for taking advantage...
Read moreAfter my sister bought a car with bad brakes from this dealer they wouldn't take the car back because the papers were signed, even though the car was not safe to drive. But that was a really long time ago, so I went and gave them a shot and after signing all the paperwork they called back the next day to say that my two 20 year old cars with over 200k miles on then weren't as nice as they thought, even though the sales man said they'd probably have to sell both for scrap after I told him one didn't have a front bumper and the other was a chop top convertible. All the papers were signed, and I was on my way with a nice truck and a loan for $26,000 until they called back the next day to say they were kidding. So I'm stuck with 3 hard credit inquiries for the next few years, wasted a day making a deal I was happy with (just to have them go back on on it the next day) and wasted a lot of time getting my insurance switched back and forth between all the cars. Needless to say, any dealer that will say you're stuck with a car without brakes because you signed the papers is pretty shady, especially when their contracts don't seem to apply when it works out better for them. They did try to work out a new deal and I could have left with my payment $15 higher per month, but after everyone working there said they had nothing to do with selling my sister a lemon, I decided it wasn't worth dealing with a...
