This school is ridiculous for the amount of money it charges for online students. The math teachers online do little to help you out, put you through hell for 4 months, and then (even if you have an A to show for your suffering) make you take a final exam. Final exams can have a purpose, but the problem I have with this final is that if you don't get over half the questions right, you fail the class period no matter what your grade is. The philosophy department is even more of a joke. The idiot profs will give you an assignment with NO direction, grade it and give it back WEEKS after you submit it, and never explain how to improve on your work or why you dropped a whole letter grade because they felt like putting a random mark on your paper. It's just NAU professors trying to make an extra buck by having an "online class" that they never actually teach. This school is keeping hard workers and good people from achieving their dreams because they are charging too much and not actually being good instructors with fair rules. In my personal opinion, if you get an "A", you should not have to take a final exam (which has material that was most likely glossed over by a lazy professor). This school is a joke, and it is true that they will conveniently lose your FAFSA over and over again no matter how many times you submit it. The staff has little compassion for anyone who is actually working hard, and the office ladies are incredibly stupid, and have no idea how to help real students with real problems. My advice is to save your money and either do ASU online or try your luck with NAU... maybe some of the philosophy profs ACTUALLY pay attention to the real life classes they teach. I definitely did not get my money's worth out of Yavapai. I am going to go somewhere where my money, time, and hard work...
Read moreI would have rated it 0 stars but the admission office is actually helpful so the school does deserve 1 star for that. I ended up not taking classes at the school because the veteran student services there was very unhelpful. I was very close to setting up my payment system for my classes but I couldn't set it up because I was missing the V.E.T. services button on my student portal. I told the Veteran Student Advisor that I couldn't find V.E.T. services on the portal, instead of giving me specific instructions on how to get to the button or instead of figuring out that it might be a technical issue they just sent me a generic document that simply told me to go to that V.E.T. button. The classes that I wanted to take are starting in 3 weeks so I was very frustrated that I couldn't move forward because they weren't helping me. I waited 2 days for them to respond to my follow up e-mail where I told them clearly that I couldn't see the V.E.T. services button and I even showed them a screenshot of all of the buttons (because there's a lot on the portal to choose from) showing that the V.E.T. services button wasn't on there. Since they didn't respond for 2 days, I gave up because the next term was coming up very quickly. I don't want to go to a school with staff that are half-assed with their help and are slow to respond. There's always other options. Thanks for nothing Veteran...
Read moreAt 60, I thought what the heck do I think I’m doing? Reaching for for a degree at my age? My granddaughter said the same thing, can you still do that at your age? I say, Hell Yeah! I have felt welcomed since registering At Yavapai. I am accepted as a student like all the others. I’m graded like all the others. My feedback has been no different than the others. When I first stepped foot on the Yavapai College campus, I was greeted with I Belong. I just finished my first semester and I feel 100% that I Belong. I have wonderful instructors, generous feedback from other students and a amazing feeling of accomplishment! Whoo hooo I’m smart! And I can get good grades! Does it...
