Granted with a name like the waffle iron I should have ordered the waffles or at least something sweet. Unfortunately my wife and I both ordered savoury dishes. The service was good the quality of the food wasn't bad but it suffered from the same problem that the vast majority of restaurants do in the Prescott area. It was not seasoned at all. The food here in Prescott is typically so very bland. The one thing that they do seem to do right is sweet dishes. That is why I would have been willing to try this place again. That is until I went to pay. The cashier asked how the food was. I was honest. It was not seasoned and thus was bland. I said I know it's because of the demographics and not to worry. Usually when I mention that the server or whoever shrugs, agrees and says something to the effect of "yeah, what can you do." Instead the woman was very rude. She went on about not seasoning because of health issues (guess they don't mind the risk of perhaps giving someone a diabetes induced heart attack but a little bit of indigestion is too much). I replied "in other words the demographics." She in a sassy tone of voice said "well this isn't Mexico!" No, no this isn't Mexico, nor is it a place where people 60 year olds and older make up less than 1/3 the population. If it were restaurants would actually season their food. Just a little bit of flavor, even a little salt and pepper during the cooking process would make a world of difference. Just adding it at the table does not make up for poorly or non seasoned food. Plus that is an insult to the chef. If i have to add seasonings at the table, the kitchen did not do their job and it could never be even close to as good as if they actually did do their job. The whole health argument is a bunch of hogwash as well. Those who have health concerns know that they do and can say so when they are ordering. This is what happens most places around the country. The one exception is usually there is one place in a neighborhood that everyone knows is the "elderly hangout." Every one else knows to avoid that restaurant with the exception of course being when your grandmother wants to treat you for breakfast. You don't say anything because you love your grandmother and you deal with the sub par food for that same reason. The problem with Prescott is they are all that "elderly hangout" place! (Or...
Read moreI have passed by this cute little restaurant numerous times. I’ve always wanted to try it and I was very excited to finally go! I just got my hair down across the street and had some time to kill before my next appointment... I figure I would walk across the street and just order a hot chocolate to go because they were closing soon... I just wanted to see what it looked like inside and support a local business. I walked inside 30 minutes before they closed. Instantly I could see I was unwelcomed and they were afraid I was gonna order food and keep them. I greated them with a huge smile and assured them I only want a hot coco to go. The waitress was nice and got my order. I walked up to the register where another women was. She was counting money. I handed her my card and she said, “are you kidding me” in a rude voice and tone. She seemed genuinely irritated.... She said it was only 2.50 and asked me if I really wanted to use a card for that. I looked at her and said, “I’m sorry, I don’t have any cash on me.” She took my card and ran it. The entire time she was rude and made me feel like I was troubling her. I felt unwelcomed and like I was a huge inconvenience for her. I then asked if she was the owner and she said she was. I told her exactly how I felt and how rude I thought she was in a very nice voice. I am an extremely happy, friendly, and positive person who worked many years in retail. I know how hard their job is and I am never rude to people in the service industry. Of course she instantly apologied to me and seemed sincere. She tried to make an excuse... she said it was because they charge her like 2.75 for card charges and basically she was loosing money on the transaction. I would have been more than happy to buy a muffin or something if she would have just asked... or have a sign that says no orders less that 5.00.
Long story short, I won’t be returning and I did not appreciate how I was...
Read moreOne might expect that staff at a down home small town diner would be exceptionally friendly, perhaps a la Luke’s Cafe from Gilmore Girls. My father and I had high hopes as this was recommended to us and perhaps having those was an error on our part. At first the hostess seemed pleasant enough, quickly taking drink orders and offering us the menu as one might anticipate. And you see folks, this where things took a turn. We were unaware that it was customary for patrons to read the menu and expected to have made our selections within 30 seconds. Unfortunately, we were unable to adhere to this unwritten policy and things continued to spiral. The sever appeared to be flummoxed that we had a difficult time choosing from their large selection and even forgot part of our order. As for the food… for the price tag one would have expected products of the highest quality and this was simply not the case. The word “average” comes to mind when describing the overall quality and taste of the food. The maple “syrup”, if it can even be called that, resembled and tasted like maple brown water. The server wasn’t even aware that the restaurant had blackberry jelly offered for their PB&J French Toast and did I mention that she was rude? From the service, to the food to even the menu itself which clearly had not been cleaned in many moons, I would strongly recommend visiting IHOP, Denny’s, Village Inn or perhaps the off brand generic frozen waffles that you can find at your local grocery store before setting foot in this over-priced, run of the mill...
