Funkie Junkies Consignment and Marketplace — Local services in Punta Gorda

Have shopped here numerous times and I always stop when returning from our jobs in Port Charlotte and North Port. Happened to stop yesterday at around 4 p.m. I wanted to buy the cute stuff I saw at the Farmhouse style vendor booth that I spotted on a previous visit. I was prepared with the SUV to haul away my goodies. I saw a pink sign on the door indicating that "large purses and backpacks" were "not allowed in the store". Happened to have my rather large Neverfull bag this day as I was returning from filing lots of paperwork. So, I went to the from counter and looked for an associate to ask about taking my bag inside after seeing this warning sign of sorts. The associate told me I could not have my bag in the store and that I had to go put it in my car. Well, that is not going to happen as 1. My family member in law enforcement just filed 11 larceny reports that same day for windows broken out of cars to snatch handbags. Never smart to leave any handbag in your car 2. How am I going to shop with my wallet in one hand, my car keys in the other hand and maybe stuffing my cell phone in my back pocket, really? 3.the saleperson did NOT have to look at me and exclaim "we have had a LOT of thefts here lately". Really? Ok, so everyone shopping in your store is a criminal or made to feel as if they are a potential shoplifter. This really could have been handled so much better. Thank you to the one other associate who did follow me out the door, with my wallet in my purse, to invite me back in the store. But i really feel I can shop another place. And my purpose was to talk about renting the space for my paintings in addition to several purchases. I understand that theft is a problem for small businesses and understand from my clients today that they were told lots of theft is occurring at this store. However, I would never want my customers to feel unwelcome, unsafe with a purse sitting in the car or shopping...

I was excited to go shopping but when I arrived, on the left outside of the building there was a sign that said everything $1. I found an item picked it up and went inside. Everything I picked up and asked how much it was she said $5. So I decided to pay for the one item that I grabbed outside for a $1dollar. I explained that I grabbed that outside off the dollar table and the lady said "oh how did that get out there this is mine for my paint brushes and do I mind if she doesn't sell it." I was speechless, put my money back in my wallet and left very disappointed. There was no sign of paint in this item that I grabbed, it practically looked brand new except for the smell of it sitting around for a while. I will never go back to this consignment store, on my weekly thrift store shopping.

To respond to your respond, yes you do have a table out there that says a dollar and to have fun. I'm sure if you mentioned to the older lady that was working that day I'm sure she'll remember because it was supposedly her paint...

I'm not a fan of dishonest salesmen. I LOVE the store and have shopped there many times. This weekend, we bought three pieces of furniture from Funkie Junkie's and opted to have one delivered since Jamison assured us there would be no extra $100 charge for bringing it up to the second floor. We figured the $125 saved us from renting a truck and gave us some extra time. However, when I called Jamison while the delivery guys were here, he denied ever making that claim. I told him I questioned his integrity and ended the call. Normally, I stay calm and collected, but I have no tolerance for dishonest salespeople. Do better Jamison!! Do better. *Hey FJ owner, we took the two pieces with us that we considered having delivered. Jamison said he would NOT CHARGE the fee for the 2nd floor for the console. This was the conversation. I called the store during the delivery and I DID NOT say it was it was agreed upon. Looks like you both are liars and you, the owner have no clue of what happened. You just make stuff...
