I called a week ago on a Wednesday with interest in moving during January. The man I spoke with at that time had a very calming and reassuring voice. He mentioned setting up a walk through to get an accurate estimate. After hanging up I was excited I had found a company to help make my move easier to 14 miles down the road.
So, after that phone call I wanted to make sure I could reserve the date I needed their services in January. I called Saturday morning, following that Wednesday. The woman who answered the phone this time was "Mr. Corvin's" secretary. She absolutely ruined any chance of this company gaining any of my business. She was very rude on the phone. This alone pushed me away from doing any future business. The only thing I said that upset her was after her over the phone estimate, that I did not request, I let her know that an $800 estimate was out of my budget. (I only wanted to reserve a date in January & still have someone physically come out and look). Mind you... I only have a handful of items which are: treadmill (small with wheels), queen mattress (no box spring), kero cabinet (all glass comes out), 1 small round table with chairs, 1 small 2 person loveseat (weighs around only 25 lbs). That's it! This is a doable job without a moving company but I wanted to not stress about possible damaging my items. As the conversation progressed with the individual... I was told that she would have "Mr. Corvin HIMSELF" call me & discuss things. She addressed him in such a way like I was suppose to be intimidated. I responded with I would be more than happy to talk to him... not really understanding the problem except for her over the phone estimate was out of my budget. I also asked well maybe to get that price down I would like to maybe only move just the kero cabinet since I was worried about it the most since it was my grandmother's & I didn't want to accidentally damage it moving it myself. She let me know that there is a minimum move time of 1 hour & with the 45 minute drive it would still be pricey. When I went to get off the phone, I explained I would just come in if I decided to reserve the date. She frantically explained that it's a $50 deposit to hold a date and she could take my credit card info over the phone, I ensured her I would wait to talk to "Mr. Corvin" himself beforehand.
5 minutes later I received the promised call from "Mr. Corvin" that I never actually saw the point in anyways since I was already so pushed away from the business to even be interested in giving them money of any kind. He was kind, but passive aggressive in my opinion. He helpfully let me know the hourly rate is $125 per hour. This info was not given beforehand. He wrote down my info & explained in a nicer way the total I was looking at. I also explained to him I just don't have that kind of money. I mean the purpose of an estimate is to see if I can afford your services or not. Well, I can't. SORRY. There was no need for the unprofessionalism & rudeness. "Mr. Corvin" while on the phone with me gave me this speech, uncalled for, about how reputable their business was, professional, how their men will not take a lunch break on you and if they do they clock out, & how most of their business comes from referrals. Guess what? I was referred by one of your prior customers & now I'm not doing business with this company because of simply the communication skills with your potential customers.
I will NEVER recommend...
Read moreSeriously, save your money. They showed up late, which I was willing to let go because stuff happens. Then, they moved half of our stuff. Half. $875 later and we still had to make a dozen trips back and forth in my SUV, plus borrow a friend's truck to complete our move. When we addressed it, the owner showed up at a time convenient for him (we JUST moved, common courtesy says you can call first and they said this morning we wouldn't hear from them until 5) and handed my husband $20, saying that "things are different down here in the south." I'm pretty sure not everyone in Kentucky thinks that you get paid in full for a job you've done half of. That's dishonest and there's no way EVERYONE subscribes to that ideology.
Furthermore, the truck was full and prevented them from moving all of our stuff. I did not determine the size of the crew and number of trucks; they did. We moved 25 minutes down the road, they could have made a second trip. THEY provided insufficiently and were unable to complete the job, but chose to shrug it off on us.
The $20 doesn't even cover the extra gas we needed to complete our move, let alone the damage they did to my $1500 couch. It was more insulting than anything else. If you're looking for a halfway done job and an owner who thinks a $20 bill rights an $875 wrong,...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience! Go with another company! They arrived on time and the price per hour was reasonable. We moved a few big things and upon inspection we found things that we didnât notice before (not nesesserly saying that they did it) so we confronted âMr. Corvinâ about it and he got very aggravated and raised his voice and was saying rude things like âwell this furniture is cheep and will start to become loose over timeâ (let me remind you that this furniture was a week old if that) so we put it to rest and when they arrived at the house my mother told both men to be carful with things in the house. âMr. Corvinâ obviously didnât like that very much and proceded to yell at her and make her cry. She called my dad and he immediently came out to the house so no more words were said. When my father got to the house something was said and âMr. Corvinâ started yelling some things and said things suck as âWell petiole divorcing are just messed upâ and âYour family needs some helpâ and even went as far as saying âNot even Dr.Phil can fix you peopleâ juts to say a few. Not only was he RUDE but he INSULTED MY FAMILY. Because of âMr.Corvinâ I would NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone looking for a...
