LA Fitness — Local services in Rancho Palos Verdes

I've been going to Bally's for about 2 years now. The one in El Segundo Blvd in Hawthorne, the one in Torrance near Del Amo and now the San Pedro one up on Western at The Terraces. Today I write this review because last Thursday I went there and saw FRESH LIGHT BROWN FECES the size of a silver dollar on the tile floor next to the toilet in the mens bathroom, in the Handicapped stall. TODAY, 6 DAYS LATER... THE FECES IS STILL THERE!! Its turned dark brown and it has not even been wiped or mopped up in the slightest bit. Its still the size of a silver dollar. I COMPLAINED TO MANAGEMENT (READ REVIEWS BELOW). I filled out a stupid "out of service tag" in english. I was told it will be given to the cleaning crew. The cleaning crew is non-english speaking illegal aliens who cannot speak, read or write english. Great. I'm sure that FECES on the floor will be there for many days more to come. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. DISGUSTING. REVOLTING. Shameful! I HOLD MY BREATH when I walk from Swimming pool, through the bathrooms to the showers. I never could understand why at only 10:00 A.M. that place could be so dirty and so smelly (after being "cleaned" the night before). Now I realize this place really is never cleaned. I see people there wearing no shoes or flip-flops in the bathrooms, showers and Sauna, swimming pool and jacuzzi. Who would not wear foot protection in such a filthy place? The illegals who "clean" that place never clean it. The bathrooms, changing rooms and showers are rotting with filth. READ REVIEWS BELOW! This gym is clean but horrible customer service. I tried to schedule for the private fitness assesment that came with my membership. First try i was told that i was scheduled incorrectly and the trainer never works Saturday, and that’s why he no showed my appointment. Second try he came 15 minutes late and said e he texted me to “warm up” until he got there, then said he normally doesn’t even come at our scheduledtime and he was doing me a favor coming in early. Then the person that enrolled me in my membership called me a “brat” when i told the trainer i expected him to be there for my entrie session, including warm up and this service just would not be a good fit for my expectations.

I called to ask to “freeze “ my membership when i look for a different location to utilize, the woman said no problem and ended call. I notice a fee on my bank statement so i call the gym to inquire. Then I’m told there is a month charge for the fee. Fine.

Today i see a new charge for $35 and when i call to inquire i was told that’s the “annual fee” that is always three months from enrollment date.... even if your account is frozen.

None of these small quips are life or death i just wished i knew about them before signing up. I’ll review my contract, and i should know what i sign up for but it’s poor customer service all around. Employees are prob paid minimum wage because they act like it... can’t blame them but it sure is...

Solid 3.5 I was in the area and decided on hitting up the La Fitness. From the outside it didn’t seem like much but walking in reminded me of the Van Nuys location, prior to its new move in a newly built building it was such a small but mighty location but now it serves Van Nuys, Panorama City, Sherman Oaks and Lake Balboa. Both locations offer an abundance of cardio equipment, arrived during prime hours it was packed, the reason for this is…. this location serves Palos Verde, Rolling Hills and San Pedro. Still with that being said, I’m sure I could have gotten a cardio machine, if I wanted. It’s a small location but structurally, I like the lay out. The pool lanes were smaller than usual, there is another pool, not sure what it’s for, wish there was a spa instead. Although, the shower pressure was terrible there was ample showers!

After your workout you can go shopping, Tj Maxx and Trader Joes in the same shopping area!

After reading others reviews here are my final thoughts… I’m not sure why people blame L.A fitness for the lack of courtesies by others. People seem to be upset that others don’t rack their stuff, well call them out. This is your gym as well. If you see someone trying to break into someone’s locker,...
