I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Kara D. Goglia. I arrived early for my 6-week transvaginal ultrasound to discuss concerns about abruptly stopping my medications, as I had been advised to do during my previous pregnancy. Naturally, I followed the same guidance this time. However, Dr. Goglia criticized me for stopping abruptly, without acknowledging that I was only following past advice.
When I asked about my ADHD medication, which I’ve been on since I was 12, I was seeking support and understanding. Stopping the medication has been incredibly challenging, affecting my ability to function daily and impacting my job performance. Instead of offering an informed, empathetic response, she rudely dismissed my concerns, outlining the potential risks in a harsh and abrupt manner. She barely made eye contact, spending most of the time staring at her computer, which felt completely disrespectful.
What shocked me the most was when she told me that if I couldn’t function without ADHD medication, I shouldn’t get pregnant. I couldn’t believe such an unprofessional comment was made to an expectant mother trying to expand her family. Instead of offering stimulant-free alternatives or a compassionate breakdown of the risks, she shamed me.
I shared this experience with my primary doctor, who was equally appalled by the lack of professionalism. I would strongly advise against seeing this doctor. My experience was far from compassionate or respectful.
UPDATE I ended up switching to a new OB-GYN practice, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. After dealing with Advanced OB-GYN, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by how understanding and supportive my new doctor was.
For months, I struggled to get my medication despite receiving approval from my maternal-fetal medicine specialist. I was constantly given the runaround and told I had to see a psych or neurologist to get my medication only to be told by my neurologist they couldn’t prescribe it because I was pregnant and that my OB-GYN should handle it. This left me without the medication I needed, affecting both my health and daily life.
When I switched practices, I expected a long debate about why I needed my medication, but instead, my new doctor immediately acknowledged the approval from my specialist, saw my long history with the medication, and reassured me that she wouldn’t stand in the way of my decision. She respected that the benefits outweigh the risks and even assured me that my baby will be just fine.
Since making the switch, I’ve been able to get back to work, my mental health has improved, and my baby has been healthy. The difference in care, respect, and overall atmosphere at this new practice compared to my experience at Advanced OB-GYN is night and day.
If you’re having a negative experience, don’t feel like you have to stay or that all practices will treat you the same. There are doctors who genuinely care, who listen, and who work with you to make your pregnancy easier—without judgment or...
Read moreI went to Advance OBGYN Lebonon, NJ - for my second pregnancy, I was able to compare it to the first practice I went in somerset, NJ (they were great) before we moved here and it was near to my place. Some of the staff is all right - One older nurse were friendly who took my details for the first visit. front desk is also okay.
The first bad expeirnce - the ultrasound nurse or technician - very very rude - no hello no hi - no conversation - with a rude long face as if someone has died - and here you are there for the first ultrasound excited about your baby - very rude and bad - didnot like her - may be she was having a bad day but not acceptable.
But Doctors are not who will take there time to answer your questions as according to them its a business and they need to see patient after patient to keep on making $$ - the same routine for them for each patient - so no sympathy or friendliness or kindness, if you are going through a problem. My husband was concerned and wanted to ask questions as I was having a miscarriage, but they had zero patience ! I was surprised ! Still I am ok with all - they are may be suppose to be like that.
But then billing department is the WORST WORST WORST - I was depressed due to my miscarriage but they didn't show any sympathy at all - totally where is the money kind of attitude. I was out of the country and when I came back we cleared all the bills right away of all hospitals, other doctors like anesthetist, and I called advance OGYN's to pay there bill in full abt $950, but they wanted to charged me $250 fee for being late in making payment - in spite of me requesting them and saying I got late as I was out of country - the manager lady at billing very very rudely behaved and hangup my call !!! I have never had such customer service experience from any - I say again any provider or patrice ever !!
Don't go there save your self and find a better one - this people are not worth for anything. I will never go there again.
I just like Dr. Abhaysinge - she was very helpful and nice to me. But Billing dept lady spoiled the entire experience. And don't get me wrong we have never kept anyone money - always paid before time and our credit is great from past 20 years - this first bad experience - will never go there again. My two neighbors went there and same experience - they r not going there for there second child. - one neighbor is due now in sep 2012 and she is so horrified with her first exp with Advance OBGY that she is delivering the second child with a midwife at home and avoiding all...
Read moreThis is what you get when you get an office full of ONLY white physicians! They are not knowledgeable, extremely careless in their practice, no heart when they practice and care more to just make money and go on vacation then taking care of their pts!! My sister is/was a pt with them, a 40yr old, her first time pregnant with a boy (thank God thru IVFNJ who got her pregnant in just 2 IUIs!!) and was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome (a common condition in women above 35) just last week at the ER. She unfortunately lost her baby because of this at 24 weeks!! Sadly she's having the funeral 2mrw! I am truly appalled and angry that these doctors, not one of them she saw at this practice, thought of preventing this condition by just giving her a low-dose aspirin or a blood thinner in her 2nd trimester. They focused more on her sugars, which she wasn't having problems with and honestly wasn't supposed to be tested until the 22nd week of gestation! This practice has poorly managed her care and didn't even think to send her to a high risk ob, when she was considered clearly high risk! Please do not go to these doctors because like I said in my first line they are ALL like this in any practice you go to that have them. And take it from a physician who has worked along side them and observed their work ethics, the majority are mediocre in their fields, have little knowledge but back it up with big words. Most of them will never stay past the time they have to for their patients but instead pass it to their colleagues! I see they are hiring an Indian American doctor to the practice in Aug 2018 since Dr. Vitale isn't there anymore (she was super caring and knew about my sister's condition). Hopefully the practice will have a better reputation with the new Indian American doctor they are adding on. I am sure that she will have more knowledge, more compassion in treating her patients, more effort in helping pts then going on vacation and...
