Jean-Ralph Thurin Custom Design House — Local services in Raritan

Between myself and my bridal party, we purchased 10 dresses from Jean Ralph Thurin. The lack of communication was frustrating. I had to email them several times before I received a response. My bridesmaids and I show up for dress fittings that were scheduled via email and they would not have us on their calendar. I brought my daughter to dress fittings on two occasions and there was no dress for her to try on (she missed school and dance class on both occasions, what a waste of time).

My wedding was June 15th and I did not see my actual dress until April 14th (I began this process one year in advance). The 1st dress (pictured) totally missed the mark of my vision and the photos I provided to Ralph (inspiration photo pictured here). My wedding was 2 months away and they had to start from scratch. Of course they had to correct the dress because I paid $4750 in full. I had to spend additional money on gas and tolls to attend additional fittings (I live 1 hour and 40 mins away). This was a major inconvenience.

Ralph became distant and barely wanted to speak to me and bridesmaids when we came to the salon. He completely stop interacting with us. Traveling to the salon became a bit uncomfortable. He put everything on Delfrance who was extremely patient and understanding. I would expect better treatment from Ralph considering we were clients and purchased 10 dresses from him. There were no "thank yous" or well wishes from him following the final dress pick up.

Let me add that they originally charged me for my veil which I felt should have been complimentary since we purchases so many dresses from them and my experience wasn't the best. Once I expressed this, they reimbursing me $150 (the funds was also for another ride I had to take few days before my wedding due to another mistake on their). I didn't received my dress ONE WEEK before my wedding. Ralph did not meet the terms of the contract regarding the delivery date of the dress however he held me to all terms.

Although I was pleased with my second dress (pictured here), I can't say it was worth the stress and uncertainly I experienced along the way. I could barely focus on the details of my wedding because I was too worried about my expensive dress. My bridesmaid dresses were very nice. My daughter's dress was also beautiful.

All I can say is WOW! Jean-Ralph and his wife do amazing work. He helped make my vision come to life! I went to a few bridal stores and no dress was giving me that "feeling" that I wanted. I was very hesitant about creating a dress from scratch because I am very bad at visualizing mentally. He was able to draw the sketch and I teared once I saw it because he helped me envision it beautifully. The entire process was a dream because I was able to create my dress with their help from the smallest detail. We picked fabric, stones, everything! My wedding dress was a dream. He helped me create a 2 in 1 dress that I could come out of after my ceremony. He also created a beautiful bridal short pant one piece with an attached skirt. It was all a dream. I loved it all. This couple is. the sweetest and funniest. They are truly two amazing human beings. I am so happy to be able to have a friendship with them throughout the process. I recommend them 100 percent. I must also say it was a lot less than the dress I almost bought a kleinfield (without alterations or a veil). The reason I mention this is because I thought getting a dress custom made was going to be much more than the stores and I was pleasantly surprised. This review is LONG overdue. Ralph and Delfrance were AMAZING to work with. Back in 2018 I had an idea on the dress I wanted, I searched all over but I could not find the elements I was looking for in one dress. I explained my vision to Ralph and he executed FLAWLESSLY. He drew up my concept with pencil and paper and it was exactly the dress I got! Over two years, due to covid, Delfrance and Ralph stayed in contact with me. They truly became like family. I had multiple fitting to try things on. I didn't receive my dress until very close to the wedding date because Ralph wanted to make sure it fit me perfectly. He also designed the mother of the bride dress for my mom and again executed FLAWLESSLY. I have not stopped getting compliments on my dress. It felt good to be wearing a one of a kind. Jean-Ralph Thurin Bridal Design House is family owned and operated and they put their best work into the designs for their clients.
