Once upon a time our communities thrived on businesses like these. Small mom and pop grocery shops located in our neighbourhood. They provided everything we needed for our everyday dinners for our family's. And today these few but proud business need our help after all these years of helping us. When the government would have us turn to big Corp like Wal-Mart for our grocery and smother out the small guy. Let's remember who we are. We are the small guy and the only one looking out for us is us so let's stick together and support each other when we can, and shop local and support small business. I just moved to Red Wing, and this is my neighborhood grocery store. It is small but has a lot packed inside. It just celebrated a century of existence. It is not the best place for bargain hunting, but you know what? They have the best selection around of local goods, everything from cheese (CannonBelles!) to produce (Lake City strawberries!) to crackers to BBQ sauces. The meat department has a great selection and a really nice butcher. Actually, everyone here has been incredibly nice. I've never really needed a full meat department (other than processing venison) until recently.
