I tried posting a very detailed review of our experience but Google is not letting it be posted so here I go again.
Was here on August 16th celebrating my 8 year anniversary. Bayside was one of two place open for food so we gave it a chance.
We did not receive good service the moment we go it. We were told to walk ourselves to the patio, no menus, no waters, no one to seat us. We then waited a good 15 minutes and since there were some menus in a cart next to us we took them with us downstairs and ordered food at the bar along with our drinks.
We made our way upstairs and within a few minutes our food arrived. The potato soup did not look fresh even though its advertised as fresh daily. That or the cooks don't know how to make soup because this was literal paste. There was no soup like consistency to it. It is obvious to much flour was used making this soup a paste consistency and honestly it was gross. I took a couple bites and did not want any more. Also the presentation was horrid. There is splatter all on the side of the bowl its not that hard to take a napkin/clothe and wipe the sides off before serving.
Then our shrimp cocktail was the other appetizer and it was GROSS. The shrimp have obviously gone bad. I threw one in my mouth not thinking, thankfully my wife was more cautious. The shrimp had a very foul oder. The texture was chewy and gross as if they had not been defrosted all the way. The shrimp were off 100% I smelled all 5 on my plate and it made me gag when I smelled them.
I went downstairs and canceled the rest of my order. The waitress who was assisting us had to go check with the kitchen to make sure it was ok. No one asked why we were canceling our order. No one cared.
A different waiter then brought us the check even though I left my credit card with our waitress and no one ever even thought to ask about our experience or try to make anything right. We should not have paid for this disgusting food that we did not eat. I didn't make a scene however and just paid for the drinks and food.
I later called and believe I spoke with the same waitress telling her that the shrimp are spoiled and to go smell them if they are still out. Also mentioned how the soup was also poorly made and honestly I think it was not fresh and microwaved.
Would never come back here again. This ruined what otherwise was a great anniversary spent in...
Read moreTrains and steaks are fun! We love this place so much!!! Everything felt super clean including the bathrooms and they had appropriate spacing for clients who felt concerned about covid-19 including hand sanitizer, etc.
There are lots of great seating options with a fun view of the marina, the park, and best of all the trains! We sat on an upstairs deck that was just shady enough to be cool. We must have had the best view in the place! But honestly the inside is classy and cool too. I could have an equally happy on a less beautiful weather day to sit at the long bar or at a quiet table inside.
The wait staff was professional and friendly and made us feel special. We enjoyed having meals that come with a soup or salad and a vegetable and the whole meal deal. It seems like many places these days serve smaller portions and less traditional sides.
The Bayside specializes in steaks and so of course that's what we had. The ribeye is out of this world! This is coming from a girl who is very picky and I don't typically order a ribeye because I don't enjoy all the marbling. This ribeye has spectacular texture and flavor that I could enjoy about three times a week. We also had the fish of the day which was a huge piece of Mahi with a yummy fresh mango salsa.
I completely forgot that I was going to order a martini first because they're also known for excellent bartenders and perfect martinis. Also on my list to try next time is some of the other entrees like Kansas City strip, walleye, and steak on a stick.
This is a beautiful restaurant that's lovingly owned and managed and I can't imagine anyone wouldn't enjoy it. Can't wait to...
Read moreBEWARE THIS PLACE!! IF YOU DONT WRITE A GLOWING REVIEW LIKE MINE, THE MANAGEMENT OR OWNERSHIP, WILL STOOP TO PERSONAL ATTACKS INSTEAD ADDRESSING THE ISSUES AT HAND. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. IM SURE THE OTHER BAR NEXT DOOR, "Kellys Tap House Bar and Grill" will likely treat its customers a lot better. Again, AVOID this place.
The Google entry says "craft cocktails".. were like oh cool, we like cocktails.. so when we sat down on the deck, seemed nice enough. I asked our server if they had Campari or Aperol, hoping I could order a Negroni. They had neither. Not a great start for a place offering "craft" martinis. I was disappointed, so asked for a Whiskey spur instead. So my wife ordered a Cosmopolitan. She got vodka and something that turned it pink. Orange Liqueur was undetectable. Not a good drink.
The server came back and asked if I wanted sweet and sour off the bar gun, or Sprite in my Whiskey sour. I know how to tend bar and have been doing it for quite a while. Neither of those are part of a "REAL" Whiskey sour.
1.5 oz Whiskey .75 oz Lemon juice 1/2 oz Simple syrup 1/4 oz egg white (optional)
Shaken on ice.
That's a Whiskey sour.
I settled on the sweet and sour. It was awful.
Tasted like sugar. Whiskey was undetectable.
These were NOT craft cocktails. These were dive bar drinks, made to turn a profit as cheaply as possible.
Food was meh at best. The place looked like it should have been filled with bikers.
Avoid if you are looking for a REAL "Craft" cocktail. If you want dive bar cheap...
