THE STAFF HERE IS AN ABOMINATION! I would give ZERO Stars if I could. ▪I asked where the camping toilets are (so I can go to the bathroom on my own property while I go through the remains of my home that burned down in the Camp Fire). I was not there for a joyful 'camp fire' camping trip. I was told they are "behind the fishing rods." After looking for at least ten minutes, I finally found them on a bottom shelf, and not in a likely place for this type of item. No staff member bothered to assist me. ▪I then went to look for a pair of waterproof pants to replace the ones I recently bought at the burned down Big 5 in Paradise. I had to summon a nearby worker, a young man. But, he was polite and helpful. ▪At the cash register, I offered my phone number to have the purchase added to my Big 5 account. She shoved the account application pad of forms at me. I told her I already have an account. I was told that if I had an Account, I should have received an email with a 10% off coupon. ▪I never have received an email from Big 5, despite filling out the account form every time I have made a purchase at a Big 5 in recent years. I told the woman that. ▪Another woman asked me if it could be in Spam. I told her no, I always check my spam. ▪She proceeded to suggest that I wrote my own email address incorrectly! EVERY time I have purchased? I asked with incredulity. ▪She then proceeded to tell me that maybe the person on their end read my email address incorrectly. Again, incredulous, I pointed out that is not feasible, given the number of times I have submitted my email address. ▪I asked if I could receive the discount if I filled out ANOTHER form. She said no. Maybe this is an ongoing scam... Get you to think you will receive a discount; but, always fail to let you have it. She said she had to have a scan code. ▪I told her I would be contacting management. I was thinking of Corporate. She had no comment, other than to tell me the $ amount of the purchase. ▪I paid with my credit card. It then occurred to me to ask if her manager were onsite. I was surprised that she said there is one because it would have been prudent for HER to have asked her manager to give me the discount I am owed. ▪The manager immediately started yipping at me: "I would have helped you (after I had to ask for her because her employees were useless in that regard); but you cursed at my staff." I most certainly did not. I admittedly did curse, however, not directing my comment at any of the staff. ▪I pointed out that her staff refused to give me the discount I should have received and was insulting. She argued with me, claiming they were not insulting. I pointed out that the questioning my spelling, etc. was insulting. ▪She also said something about me having no proof of my former purchases. I told her that is not true. I can obtain copies of my bank or credit card statements showing my payments to Big 5. (Duh!) ▪I told her that I would follow up with her management and exited the store. ▪I was already in my car when I saw the manager run out. I thought she was going to apologize for how I was treated and try to talk me out of going over her head. Instead, she wanted to give her MY name so she could report ME for "cursing" at her staff! ▪Again, incredulous, I closed my car door and left. ▪My name us in this Review, which I hope her manager sees! I also hope that potential customers are forewarned about the rude type of treatment they may receive at this location and the problem they may encounter with regard to their rightfully earned discounts. ▪At a time when many places offer discounts to Camp Fire victims, I was denied the discount I should have received as a non-victim. Read moreIt was one of the worst shopping trips ever. There were no employees to be seen in the store for about 5 mins. One employee came out of the back of the store. He helped me find the item I was looking for. I had lost my coupon for the item. He said he would let me have it at the sale price. A woman came out and offered to help me. I explained what the other person told me, and she said no, that was not valid after Black Friday. The other employee tried to explain it was, but she insisted it wasn't. I was dumbfounded that she was being so rude. I stated that I planned to talk to the store manager, which she said she was. I left and went home for the ad, which showed the sale price was valid thru Sunday the day I was there. I went back to the store. She came out and rudely stated she would refund me. She was rude and well snotty about it. I won't go back to the...
Read moreOverall Big-5 is a great place to shop, my review is about there parking lot. Between Big-5 and there neighboring Business a gas station, there is a cement divider( estimated size ) 6 in tall x 6 in wide that comes off there curb and extends out at least a car length, we parked next to it and as we left big 5 my wife had in her hands larg bags we bought a lot that day, it was dusk and as she was rounding the front of our car you step off there curb, head towards your trunk and turn in to grab handle and she tripped on that curb/ divider is so low and hardly marked with paint, she tripped and went down hard. It should have a railing that extends up to make it visible. And reflective safety tape. And as I remember the lighting was very poor right there . Nothing against big- 5, but in my opinion a big design flaw that should...
