I took the wife out on a date here yesterday evening oct. 23,2020 and we loved the place and the food. As soon as we walked in we were greeted my a hostess who was wearing a mask due to COVID, and she immediately took us to an empty table outside with no wait time which was really wonderful. You could hear nice soft music in the background upon getting to our table, they handed us a modified menu and a wine/cocktail with what year the wine was and where it came from. Our waitress, Brittany immediately came to us and asked us what we wanted to have to drink even with all the tables full she was on top of it and we didn't have to wait at all. The wife had water while I had a coke no ice and we decided to go with the poke nachos as an appetizer. Before she left to put our order in she let us know that the special for the day was prime rib with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Throughout the entire dinner our drinks were always filled before we ever ran out and it looked like the same thing for everyone around us. When Brittany brought out the poke nachos it looked absolutely amazing in a nice pyramid form and it was even better then it looked. The wife decided to get the firecracker prawn salad, while i ordered the seared ahi bowl. As soon as we finished the appetizer or food was coming out we didn't even have to wait at all. The seared ahi had a perfect sear i would say about a 1/16'' sear on each side. The wife's prawns had some nice spice to it and she loves spice, she truly enjoyed the way it tasted. After a few minutes of eating our waitress came by to see if everything tasted fine and if there was anything else she could do for us. After we finished the entrée we decided to get some dessert which Brittany told us the hazelnut flan with whip topping and blueberries was amazing and was her personal favorite so we went with that. When it arrived it looked truly amazing and upon that first bite that you take it seemed like we were lost for words for a minute and the only thing we could think of was WOW this is amazing and delicious. We truly had an amazing time and we cant wait to go back there again and hope that the service and food is still amazing. The only downside thing and the reason i'm not able to give them a 5 star was because while the wife was eating her salad she noticed that some of her lettuce was a little brown while others were turning brown, but other then that the evening there was perfect and if you guys have the waitress Brittany rest assure that you will be in good hands and won't have anything to...
Read moreI was looking for a nice place to have Sunday brunch with a friend of mine and I was recommended to try CR Gibbs. I made reservations but I don't think that they where necessary since the large dining rooms were only half full. The newly remodeled (according to the waitress) bar looked welcoming and modern.
Our waitress was young and had a lively, friendly personality (and a lot of arm tattoos). We both had coffee, my friend ordered the rib plate off of the menu and I chose the smoked trout Eggs Benedict offered as a special. Both were, in my opinion, about 20% overpriced based on what I've had at other restaurants. My dish was very attractive as well as tasty. The poached eggs were prepared perfectly, the trout was a little salty as was the pre-made Hollandaise sauce. It came with some roasted new potatoes that could have been crispier and warmer. I can't say that the dish was worth the $18.99 but it was good. My friend was pleased was her ribs but mentioned that, although they she expected them to be fatty, they pushed the limit of acceptably. At over $19 they could have been better trimmed. I would not normally be so picky but at these prices I expect better. Before tip the bill was about $44 with only the coffee added to the entrees. Still, I would go back again.
Notes: Disabled parking and wheelchair accessible seating are both available. There are many long tables that can accommodate large groups plus the children's menu seems to attract a lot of large families (a group with 10 children were seated next to us just as we were leaving) as well as large church groups. Although there were quite a few people seated by the time that we leaving the noise level was...
Read moreWhat started as a pleasant dinner on a stopover in Redding, California turned into a complete nightmare. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were cordially greeted by the hostess who quickly sat us on the patio which was promptly followed by some complimentary free bread delivered by the server's assistant. After indulging in the bread after an exhausting drive from San Francisco, we were looking forward to devouring a tasty meal. This is where things turned sour. Our server did not greet us, bring us water, or acknowledge our presence despite making eye contact several times in the span of 15 minutes. Our desperate attempts to grab his attention failed - he brushed them off and continued serving the remainder of the tables on the patio. Some might say "perhaps it was a busy night and he genuinely lost track of his tables", but there were legitimately only 5 other tables seated. Frustated, one of the members at our table spoke to the server's assistant to inform the server of our eagerness to eat. Eventually, the server sauntered to our table and spewed out several clearly disjoint lies including "I didn't see you guys there" and "I thought you guys had already eaten". In what world would a server designated to one area of the restaurant think "Hmmm, this table seems to have menus on the table, no drinks, and unused cutlery... they have clearly eaten"??? Given our frustration and the growing thought this may be racially targeted (we were the only non-Caucasians in the restaurant), we ordered our food to go and left swiftly. Despite the horrifying dining experience, the food was above average and the servings were...
