I love, love, love this Pilates Studio right in the heart of the Riviera Village in South Redondo Beach!
Quick intro/background: I am a stay at home/homeschooling mom of 2. I have been taking Pilates and Gyro at ShapeShift for almost a year now. I have not tried other studios in the area, so I cannot compare and contrast. Proximity is what initially drew me to this studio since I live close to the Village. Before starting Pilates, I had pretty severe upper back and neck tightness and pain, and low back pain from tight hamstrings and hips, none of which was alleviated through regular chiropractic or massages, at least not long term.
Positives:
*Location is pretty much perfect.
*Very clean, bright, breezy studio...carpeted and cozy...no harsh or strong perfumes allowed...tea tree oil is used in the spray bottles...only socks allowed on the floor...loads of natural light...right next to a small, but beautiful courtyard...these are some of the things I really appreciate about this space.
*The staff and instructors are very friendly and personable and helpful. I always feel welcome and I have always felt like I fit in and belong.
*The "quiet time" classes, or non "prime time" classes, are perfect for my schedule and very affordable.
*I really appreciate how this business is run. Check out ShapeShift's web site and read all about it! It is very inspiring.
*I have worked with 3 instructors, Jamie, Gina and Kelly. Each of them has their own method of teaching and I have enjoyed each one. They are very knowledgeable and helpful and have a great deal of experience.
*I feel better than I have in years. I now sing the praises of Pilates to anyone who will listen, because it has helped me tremendously! I no longer have the pain and tightness in my muscles I had when I first started. I no longer feel the need to see a chiropractor on a regular basis. My husband said after witnessing my transformation into a happier wife/mama, "This is the best money I think I've spent in a long time!"
*I have met some really wonderful women in class and I so appreciate the friendly, fun and peaceful atmosphere of this studio.
Negatives:
*None that I can think of...
Read moreExcellent instructors here. I'm usually an active person but had a back injury few months ago that made things difficult. Tried some PT but that wasn't really working and I was still feeling constant pain in my back after a few weeks of PT sessions. Doctor then recommended that I try pilates. I was skeptical at first but Gina really helped me through the rehab process by focusing on my core and strengthening body as a whole. After a training with her for a few weeks I had significant improvement and started have much less back pain. I can now run around and keep up with my 13 month old toddler and just in time for my family vacation in Hawaii. Highly recommend this place and Gina as a...
