I'm disappointed I didn't have the same experience as everyone else on here... I went to see Hu Smiles for Periodontal therapy. First time ever in my life having gum disease so I was terrified of what was to come next. I had a general cleaning done a week before I went to see Dr. Hu for an exam. He identified the problematical areas right away and had me come back for a deep clean. He did thoroughly explain what needed to be done in order for me to move on w the next steps of dental procedures so I felt confident and was onboard for the journey. Before I start any new exams/procedures my current dentist always reminds me to let new dentists that I see know I have composite bonding and that it can get mistaken for plaque and taken out. On the day of the cleaning that's exactly what happened... After a couple days of recovery I noticed and felt something strange above my front teeth. i looked in the mirror and thought it was dried up blood from my gums healing so I didn't panic then the third day I wondered why it wasn't rinsing off then I looked closer in the mirror and realized it was a HOLE right above my upper front tooth not blood but a big dark hole where my bonding was done and I can clearly see it was all removed. I immediately called the office to see if they can fix it and the only response I got from the front desk was well we have to finish your deep clean first then the Dr. says he can take a look at it. WOW, I was not expecting that rebuttal. I was expecting a little more sympathy from you all at least offer to fix it then finish my cleaning. My composite bonding was definitely mistaken for plaque and taken out after I had informed them of this work that was previously done and restored. Now I am stuck with a big hole/gap above my front teeth I cant speak to anyone comfortably and have to cover my mouth so I don't spit on them nor can I eat comfortably... Feels like there's a permanent popcorn kernel just stuck in the back of my front tooth from my bonding being scraped out... and I am the one who has to suffer with the everyday discomfort. Very disappointed with how things were handled here. I found a different place and asked Hu smiles to send my x-rays over but they were reluctant to and said I needed to sign a release form. How BOGUS is that they're Dr. to Dr. offices. Thankfully my regular dentist took care of all that paperwork for me. Bad Business acumen in my opinion needs improvement although Dr, hu is super gentle which is awesome and hard to find I wouldn't recommend based off customer service and pushing alternative treatments that cost big bucks to...
Read moreImagine how excited I was to find a dental office with flexibility in their schedule (including nights and weekends), was in network with my insurance AND had great reviews! Unfortunately it was to good to be true.
I went in to the office today for my first appointment. It was primarily to get a cleaning but also to take a look at my jaw which has had TMJ issues for years, and get a treatment plan for my jaw. I notated my issue several times on the initial paperwork and when the Dr asked if I had concerns I told him as well. He seemed very uninterested and simply replied with an “uh huh”. I also had to repeat it to his hygienist a few times and she seemed very confused which makes me question if they even know what the TMJ is. When the cleaning started the Dr made absolutely zero effort to walk me through the steps of the exam such as the periodontal exam portion (as every single dentist in my life has done) and was overall not personable, approachable, or friendly by any means. At the end of the exam he just got up and walked away, leaving his hygienist to tell me he will meet me in the lobby to discuss a treatment plan for my teeth (another first...talk about lack of privacy). He never even mentioned my jaw throughout the entire visit which again was my reason for coming and would’ve been great to get fixed.
While discussing the treatment plan for my teeth he started going straight to setting the dates (like I’ll ever come here again). Their website says that they give a free sonicare toothbrush or teeth whitening with the first visit as long as you have X-rays, an exam, and a “tooth cleaning”. When I asked about the toothbrush (hoping I can at least come out with some consolation for my wasted time) he said that it is only for deep cleaning. Kind of odd considering his site very clearly says just a cleaning.
This office is a joke, now I have to make another appointment and take time off of work to compensate for this. It isn’t like he was rushed, I was the only patient in the office.
Don’t make the same...
Read moreBotched root canal. They didn't tell me they weren't going to place a temporary crown to protect my root canal after doing it. I paid close to a $1,000 for this procedure and I don't make a lot of money. The dentist laughed at me when I said I needed to check my work schedule before scheduling an appointment. I just got off the phone with him and he was dismissive about my questions. I brushed my teeth this morning and pieces of the filling came out, which wouldn't have happened if they placed a temporary crown on my tooth in between the time it takes for an actual crown to come back from the lab. Makes no sense at all, absolutely none. So now, I have a fragile stump of a tooth in my mouth with no way of protecting it. I feel like they took advantage of me, my time, and my money. I got better treatment at the low income dentist than at this place. Instead of this office, try finding a dentist or root canal specialist that actually explains what they are going to do and why instead of finding out after you've paid so much money to have your tooth essentially set up to shatter after BRUSHING YOUR TEETH. Also he was arguing with his dental technician while I was in the chair, eventually asking for a different one to come in and finish. I just have no more words for a dentist that thinks it's okay to leave a root canal uncovered in between visits. I have literally never heard of this in my life. It's like they want my tooth to break so I have to come in and get it extracted and pay them more money. I should get a refund for this. All $950 that I paid out of pocket and the $100 for the...
