LA Fitness — Local services in Rich Township

Pros:

Xsport Fitness offers a nice size gym, running track, free weight area, sauna, and 3 studios. It's only $10 month while still being a 24 hour gym.

Cons:

The employees seem to have no other responsibilities besides sitting at the desk to gaurd the retail items for sale. The men's locker room is vile! Showers appear never to be cleaned, the shower curtians are filthy. Also every single time I am there (usually between 10pm-2am) the garbage is always over the top. Not to mention the men's sauna, I can not begin to explain the state I've seen it in. Frequently trash can be found scattered along the sauna floor, the wood inside the sauna is tarnished with the sweat of countless men.(which is expected) For the Love of all, at least pressure wash it once a month! Also the glass looks likes it has never seen Windex since it's existence. Take a look at the gaps inbetween the wood where people sit in the sauna. There is least a quarter inch of scum, dirt, and lord knows what else down there. Also free weights are scattered amongst the gym floor sometimes even in the sauna. The large rope for exercise is hanging on barely with just a couple threads and some duct tape.

Conclusion:

The gym isn't terrible, I'm willing to see if you actually care and make an actual change. Over all the equipment seems to work just fine and the other guests are respectful. However let me be extremely clear here and now! I do not wish for the universal response to reviews it usually goes... " Please include key tag number and your reference number is blahblahblah email to blahblahblah we will continue to improve your experience". Obviously it's not true because the same reviews keep flooding in with the same exact complaints, it's insane. I shouldn't have to sit here and type all of this with extreme detail(please take notes). It should be blatantly obvious! I pay a maintenance fee every year. I want some maintenance done ASAP, pereferably TODAY! Don't tell me your going to continue to improve my experience, just do it!

I have no idea whatsoever what these negative reviews are about. I'll allow the perspectives, but I honestly can't relate. I've lived in the area for several years and this place is a best kept secret to those who have not entered it's doors. My former apartment complex had a gym, but when I moved I knew I had to join a new gym. I'm a former Bally Total Fitness as well as an LA Fitness member. This club tops those in spades. I researched every option within a maybe 12 mile radius of home. I also worked out at area Planet Fitness gyms. I initially visited as a guest of another member which is an awesome feature. A friend can workout on your $20/month membership free infinity. Huh? Awesome. Friends and family members had previously worked out here. I was mad they didn't tell me how amazing it is. It's my type of place. The design, the vibe, the people, even the sales staff...WHO has an awesome sales staff? 0% annoying. They are not pushy. They only apologize for maybe missing a discount in a sale or deal for you. Every trainer I've worked with has been professional and informative, fun and driving to just the right amount of progress and support. There is no meat market atmosphere. These people are FOCUSED! Focused, ok? Every level of athlete is here and that drives and inspires me. The workout clothes sold are cute and trendy. The supplements and accessories are awesome. The locker rooms are gorgeous and private. The machines are modern and in working order. The only thing missing for me are ab rollers and ab wheels. Maybe some resistance bands. There is a track upstairs. The free weight area is top par. Not once have I had to wait for anything. I love working out in the empty classroom so sometimes that is unavailable, but not very often. They have Sunday morning Yoga. Must try (I haven't yet). Zumba and more. Bootcamps...et cetera. The price cannot be beat. All budgets can manage these options. I must stop typing. Please go. You will love it and get fit, fine, healthy and sexy in the process....

Make sure to leave your valuables in your vehicle (if that) & not in your locker because there are plenty of thieves preying around like rats looking for cheese. Someone broke into my locker & stole all my money. I spoke with management & all they can do is have you fill out a waste less report of a joke paperwork that's a waste of time & nothing will get done. Another turn off about this place is that they do not give members access to the heavy bags & only to members who hire a personal trainer. They have their little studio with the door locked. If we are paying for a membership & have to pay maintenance fees, we should also have access to all gym equipment as well. We are paying for a service & should have full usage. Staff is quick to let members know when our dues are owed but come up with foolishness when members get stiffed. Not everyone wants to lift weights & do the cardio machines all the time. There are no excuses why you all cannot put heavy bags in your aerobic room with all that space. You all should have at least 3 bags minimum because 1 bag would not be sufficient enough. Oh & it would be nice if you all could do a better cleaning & supply job in the locker rooms. No excuses for a corporate club like Xsport to be slacking like that & that bathroom to look & smell the way it does. Hopefully you all @ Xsport (Matteson location) can address these issues & make the appropriate changes needed but I would not be 😲. Just like Xsport will not be surprised when they start having a membership decline & cannot meet their quotas. Please do not ask me to contact you (Owner)!
