Read morePrices weren't that great compared to a regular branded store (ex. Gap clothes- regular price $25, Gabe's price $22.99). It was a busy time of the year when I was there (few days before Xmas), but the store was pretty unorganized, some shelves were empty, there was broken merchandise on a lot of the shelves, quite a few missing price tags & with a lot of the clothes the sizes we're either XS or XXL. Also, a good portion of the clothes were "irregular" (no markings as to -what- was irregular) [personal ex.-I would have purchased a top if the bottom seam was a bit off, but if one sleeve was larger than the other.. I wouldn't have most stores that sell "irregular" merchandise have a sticker or somehow point out what's off with the item] & quite a few clothes I looked at were dirty - like dropped on the floor, walked on, then hung back up. As for customer service.. I realize that the holiday season is hard on retail employee's but no one offered any help and the employee that rang up my purchase was not at all friendly. There was no greeting when I made it to the counter (I waited about 10 mins, there was 4 people in front of me & around 4-5 register's open), no smile.. I could tell he did not want to be there & he seemed over-worked/tired. (I was at the store around 4pm). I've worked retail, I understand how crazy it is around the holidays- I went to a lot of stores & Gabe's was by far the worst experience. I don't know if all Gabe's stores are like this (I had heard it was a pretty good store, at different locations- Lansdale/North Wales & Pottstown) & I may try a different location in the future (not Quakertown) but I don't have any plans to seek one out due to my "not so great"...
I am very fussy where I buy what. I drive over an hour to do major seasonal clothing shops at this location for myself and family. Yeah imho I know it is worth it. I actually watch prices for things at most major places and am very good at saving and getting good quality. I shopped the Whitehall Gabe's location and was not impressed at all, don't know why they seem so different. Anyway, at this location, staff is great, store clean, great selections, though you have to with an open mind as they carry what is available for good deals, not just everything at any price like a regular retail store. You have to keep that in mind. That is why they are my first stop when I have to get things. I save a lot from my list on what they have and if they don't have something I still saved a lot, got great deals on...
Read moreI needed to return a pair of nonslip shoes that did not work for what I needed. I didn't have a receipt, and I was fine with store credit, but the manager didn't even want to take the shoes back because they couldn't resell them, because they had some cat hair on them. The whole transaction consisted of her rudely telling me that they can't sell these, and "nobody will want these, they have hair all over them" and "do you expect us to clean these" as well as "I guess I'll mark them as damaged because they're gonna have to go right in the bin". I tried to be nice, and upon leaving, I told her to have a nice day, and in response, nothing except her talking to the other employees badly about me while I walk away. 2 stars for the one employee who was nice enough to find another pair so I could get...
