Epoch Furnishings — Local services in Richmond

I had a very mixed experience buying a dresser from this shop, far more bad than good. In short, only buy furniture from this shop if you can in person assess the quality of the piece and its restoration. In long, I found a dresser through the online store and visited the physical location to view it and buy it. There were some minor issues that I was able to appreciate (the drawer glides were causing the drawers to stick) and negotiate a small discount over. However after purchasing the piece, two legs fell off and a crack was noted in one of the drawer supports while picking up the piece to put into my vehicle. I decided to go through with the purchase anyways after an additional discount. Since this time, I've been working of the dresser to repair supports, glides, and legs and keep finding defects along the way. Now, I have to say this dresser is still very pretty and will be a nice statement piece when finished. However, I can't say I would repeat this process due to the questionable (at best...) restoration work given the price. In the shop owners defense, they did offer me a refund when issues like the broken legs cropped up while moving the dresser. I can not say enough good things about Epoch Furnishings, and Colena and Jake. A visit to the store, is always a delight. There are always unique and interesting items that have been added, and the Customer Service, and friendly atmosphere can not be beat. When we moved into our new home, we purchased 5 Oriental Rugs, a sofa, several tables, a wine rack and several unique decorative pieces. Jake delivered all to our home, and helped us get them unloaded and set up in our house on the same day! All of these are treasured by us and we receive compliments on them all from visitors to our home. The store hosts monthly events which feature local artists and musicians, and provide light refreshments. While attending one of these Get Togethers during the holiday season, we were pleased to be able to procure many Christmas Gifts for Friends and Family. All of those gifts have become cherished possessions by those who received them. We cannot say enough great things, about EPOCH, and Colena and Jake! Have to add that Connie is awesome too! My husband and I discovered EPOCH when they first opened and we were new to the neighborhood. We have purchased a coffee table, 2 chairs and a beautiful custom dining room table from them.
