I love the vibe of this place. It's a chill atmosphere with wine, pizza, and picnic tables. My fiancé and I ordered a cheese pizza, and a red sparkling wine based on their helpful suggestion. I really enjoyed the wine. My thoughts on the pizza are as follows. The crust was outstanding. The owner of this place apparently worked at the famous Tartine Bakery and that is reflected in the crust. It tastes more like a crusty mild sourdough loaf than a traditional pizza. The wheat flavors from the high extraction or whole wheat they are using in the dough are present but not overpowering. In the realm of pizza this is definitely a slower bake cooked in their Baker's pride gas oven. My guess is about 10 minutes. What you get a very crispy verging on cracker like consistency in the crust. I prefer a little more delicacy and lightness from a faster high temp bake, but it was still delicious. I was slightly less enthralled with sauce and the cheese combination. The cheese is classic Grande low-moisture mozzarella, no complaints there. Based on the cans I saw the sauce is a DOP San Marzano tomato. It was on the acidic side, and that combined with the tangy Grande cheese did not complement each other very well. I would prefer a naturally sweeter tomato sauce. I also would have liked a little more sauce. All that said, it is still great pizza, and I would be a regular here if I didn't make...
Read morePizza Bones is one of my favorite places just about anywhere in the world. There's always good vibes resonating from the place and for that reason I greatly prefer to "dine in" and take it all in, chat with the friendly staff, let my kids have a good time in the grassy area/large patio area, and order a bottle of a wine. Great wine selection btw and VERY fairly priced for drinking there.
The pizza is delicious and I especially appreciate the vegan cheese option for my wife and one of our kids who can't have diary. I like that they use freshly milled flour and make a sourdough crusts...the crust (aka "the bones") taste delicious and always is enjoyed. They also support local farms with a lot of their ingredient selection.
Occasionally, maybe weekly during the warmer months, they host a Saturday morning breakfast situation while Tomten Farm is on-site selling vegetables and eggs. Recluse coffee, cardamon buns, scones, and bagels: the perfect pairing when shopping for veggies and all without battling the crowds at other farmer's markets in town.
Keep up the good work...
Read moreOrdered two pizzas and was told it'd be an hour, this being a Monday night. Came in an hour and ten minutes later and the pizza had yet to be put in the oven, there were still tickets "ahead" of mine and it'd be half an hour before the food would be ready. They said they were "busy" but I suspect they were prioritizing customers they knew and people that were in store. Cancelled the order and have no intention of getting pizza here again, they attempted to act like they didn't have to cancel it at first. Two hours for pizza is disgraceful.
The worst part is that the staff was incredibly blasé about the whole thing, offering no apologies or restitution of any kind.
Edit: In response to the owner’s reply we’ve eaten here a number of times, as is evidenced by the higher review of the food quality, the issue here was the complete lack of communication and nary an apology for the absurd delay. I appreciate the belated apology, but the lack of an attempt to rectify the situation in the moment and even now reflects poorly on the...
