Center Market — Local services in Ridgefield

I have lived in Ridgefield for over a year after selling my business of 28 years. I strongly believe in supporting local small businesses and have always liked and appreciated the service I receive at this convenient corner market. But one staff member can change that in a single visit! I tried to find the manager but on three tries with different employees all saying they didn’t really know who it was or they have never seen one I am left to warn others of this condescending young man who would not give me his name. He has long dark, black, hair with a slight curl to it, he is the stocky one with long dark hair not the slim, skinny, one. Went I went to the register to purchase a beer I asked for two chicken thighs, he rang it up and looked at me waiting for me to pay. I told him I also had two thighs, his response was “look at the screen old man, they’re on the screen”. I said they are not bagged and in front of me. He said do you want them or not? Not I put my $20 back in my pocket and walked out. I still can’t get past a customer service person calling me an old man and thinking it was okay.me this happened about three weeks ago. I tried on three occasions to speak with the managers but coukd not get past any other staff members to point me in their direction, so this review is to hope the manager or the owner see’s it an know at least one staff member cost them my business and now my negative review is posted publicly. I came in with a coupon from the back of my Rosauers receipt, and thought I’d give the Chicken Tenders a try. Got $3 off the “12 piece”, and I have to say it was really expensive/overpriced,(nearly $22, less my $3 coupon),and chicken was dry as a bone. Which made it texturally like beef jerky. If I were closer, I’d return this for fresh or refund. The box of chicken exclaims ‘freshly made’.. well, it wasn’t. Probably made from the morning early. This was at 2:30pm I went in. Really disappointed. I’m sure if it were freshly made, it would taste really awesome because I could tell the flavor would be good. Just was extremely dried out. My biscuits that came with were rock hard! My dog would love these if it were dog treat. I asked about Jambalaya on the menu. Clerk said ‘out of stock’. Ok.. this is my second attempt at good chicken here, but it ain’t fresh folks. Save time and go elsewhere. Sad because I like to support local stores. I won’t be returning...

The local downtown corner store. This great little spot has a bit of grocery for the last minute shopper, and amazing walk in beer & beverage fridge, it has some unique machines such as fureel ice cream smoothie and slushie, coffee, the store has been remodeled in the last 2 years recently and is under new ownership. The downside of this is they are not very friendly? Don't talk much English or friendly local chat if yah know what I mean. There is a lack of warmth here that left with the previous owners. It also supplies a enormous range of smoke stuff such as pipe tobacco, cigars, vaporizers, lighters, kratom and other crap! I don't like the vibe it send off as a community image. It also doesn't have prices on anything in the store, except the beverages? Frustrating?

They have really long hours so they are open very late if you do need to run...
