Shopping for a wedding dress during a pandemic was a bit challenging for me. The experience was not what I ever expected. My attitude towards dress shopping was to be as simple as possible. I wanted to avoid complicating things during a time of uncertainty. I went on the website of one the top bridal salons in NYC to browse through their fabulous dress options. I went on to schedule a consultation for Saturday, October 24, 2020, along with my mother and sister we arrived at the bridal salon. After trying on three dresses, I said yes to the dress after trying on the fourth option. The dress was a beautiful, ivory, lace, trumpet styled gown. At the time, I was happy with my dress choice. Months later, in March 2021, I realized that I was not in love with my dress. I had just settled for a dress due to the uncertainties during a pandemic. It clicked to me that I was getting married in a castle and needed to dress the regal theme. After a broad research on Instagram, I discovered Sena Masoud Bridal in Ridgefield, New Jersey. I booked a consultation appointment for the following month. At my appointment, I was amazed at the beautiful gown options. I was confident that I was in the right place. I was nervous about the short time frame leading up to the wedding. Sena was very understanding and empathetic towards my feelings. She reassured me that she could have my gown made in time for my wedding. Her goal was to design a dress suitable for my body type and for my wedding theme. After collecting a few details of my wedding, she had me try on a beautiful gown. This was my first time in such a marvelous gown. I felt at ease admiring how beautiful the lace and beaded details at the train of the dress. I felt the sudden urge to twirl around. I have been following Sena Masoud for a while on Instagram. Her dresses were my absolute “dream” dress and even before I got engaged, I would take pictures of her dresses and absolutely loved each and every one of them. After I got engaged, Alhamdulilah, I started dress shopping around bridal shops in the Bay Area in California. I tried on different styles and every single time, there was something definitely missing. The different sales associates were nice and would try to find a dress that was close to my vision, but absolutely nothing came remotely close. All the other dresses were just lacking in a “wedding” dress feel. They did not make me feel like I wanted to put it on and never take it off, nor did they make me feel as if it was “the” wedding dress. I felt that, in the end, I might have to resort to buying a dress online (but oh the stress if it did not fit the vision!) or purchase overseas.

Fast forward several wedding dress shopping trips over and my mom and I had plans to fly to Washington DC. And my mom knew my obsession with Sena Masoud (I would always screen shot her dresses and show them to my family) and she told me, “why don’t we drive there and see her bridal dresses?” I started to get excited… and I thought “wait, is this happening?! Could we do it?!” I messaged Sena, and we made an appointment. The day after we arrived in DC, we rented a car and drove to New Jersey. And, oh-my-goodness…I entered into a fairyland full of all of my dream dresses. And what a beautiful and wonderful experience it was! Needless to say, I said Yes to my dress, Alhamdulilah! Absolutely gorgeous and makes me feel like I’m walking in through those coveted pictures that I used to screenshot for the last few years. Alhamdulilah.
