I have bought several pairs of boots at the Red Wing Shoe store and have always been very pleased with the service and quality of the product. Until today, I just left the Red Wing Shoe store nd I have to say the salesperson was just plain condescending. I was looking for a pair of lightweight athletic style shoes with a safety toe. After he brought out a pair of very comfortable shoes I said I really wanted a safety toe. He brought out a heavy leather shoe that weighed more than the ones I have now. I picked up the shoe and said it's way to heavy. He said well that's all I have in your size with a safety toe. The other styles are very scarce, go try Rogan's shoe store maybe they have something. Then he started helping another customer. He made no mention of maybe trying to order a pair of shoes in my size of the style I was interested in or anything. He just reiterated I have nothing else in your size try somewhere else.
His demeaner, body language and tone of voice just said get out of here so I can sell this other person some boots. I still love Red Wing Shoes and Boots. But I won't be going back to the Red Wing Shoe store in Rochester...

After the inital shredding of his heels..it was over a month before he could put them on again and try to walk.He started out with just a few mins a day. He oiled and worked the heel with his hand to soften the leather...eventually they were stretched enough. They took way too long to break in (several weeks!) but he's finally happy with them. ** Guy sold us a pair of heritage mock toe and told us to buy a size smaller due to the leather stretching. Not only did my husband's heel get shredded within a half hour of wear, which took over 2 weeks to heel before he could even try the boots on again..the shoes are too small. His toes are going numb...and there are NO RETURNS on these $300 boots. Just beware. People love Red Wings. My husband wants to love them..but sadly his feet hate them. And now...
Read moreTrue quality and excellence are very rare these days, yet that is what you experience at this store. I work construction and every other brand I've tried has lasted no longer than 3 years. I just retired my first pair of Red Wings after 8 years. Safe to say it's the only brand I'll purchase from now on. Shout out to Paul, pretty incredible. He took one look at my feet, knew what size I was, identified my high arch, and handed me the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had. Turns out he has 20 years of experience. Don't want to forget about Tom he was excellent too! I pray these gentlemen still work here in a decade when I need another pair. It's like going to a gas station in the 50's. Full service. I hope the CEO of Red Wing reads this, don't...
