As soon as I walked into Flapdoodles NorthEast I knew I was in for something special. Smiles and warmth greeted me as I opened the door. Coming from the likes of Sunyca, Mohamed, Yusuf, and Muad I immediately felt welcomed and tended to. When I asked to sample the exquisite goose tracks ice cream, I was met with a beautiful smile from Yusuf as he exclaimed, “Of course Sir”. I was delighted to bear witness the masters of their craft as they scooped clouds of heavenly dairy in assorted flavors. Mohamed tended to my colleague who had ordered pumpkin cake roll and goose tracks. The pumpkin cake roll was described as enveloping all of autumn into one scoop full. Flapdoodles luxurious rotation of special flavors makes it an incredulous joy each time to go and discover the new flavors. When walking into Flapdoodles for the first time in a while, it felt akin to an explorer charting the previously uncharted North Pole. It felt as I was young again, experiencing an unparalleled childlike wonder towards the earth. The chocolate malt crumble was simply indescribable and otherworldly. I felt as if the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl had used my tastebuds as fertile soil to sprout cacao cultivation. I can only describe the taste of my order as achieving nirvana isolated solely on my tongue. The goose tracks ice cream paid homage to our city’s most bountiful avian creature. Muad made our checkout swift and incredibly efficient. We were given generous but fair portions for all of our ice cream leaving nothing more to be desired. The workers’ radiant smiles contrasted the chilled delight of the ice cream. Furthermore, I like to commend Sunyca as previously my colleagues and I entered when Flapdoodles was closing, but her strong will towards customer service was shown that very day. She stayed past closing in order to assist and guide us through the life altering journey that is Flapdoodles. At Flapdoodles, we don’t feel like mere customers buying ice cream, we feel as if we are family. Through this experience, the Flapdoodles NE workers have shown us their incredible passion towards dairy divination and given us a new outlook on life and what to value.
“My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite. Don’t waste your love on somebody, who doesn’t value it.” - William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet.

Read moreI'll start with saying that Flapdoodles makes the best ice cream in MN, credit where credit is due on that aspect. And they're always friendly and polite at both locations. The reason for my 3-star rating is the fact that every time I go there (been there 4 times the past 30 days), there are 4 people standing and chatting, with 2 people scooping ice cream and making shakes, while 4 or 5 customers stand there waiting for their carry out orders or to pick their flavor.. (no exaggeration, most recent visit to the North store, there were 5 employees standing with their arms crossed, chatting and laughing in the drive thru, while 2 others were handling the 8 customers and I was standing at the register ready to go with another customer next to me, commenting on how to get their attention)
The South side location on the other hand,, is ALWAYS working hard. Every time I visit that location, everyone there is working on something and helping someone or asking if anyone has a question or is ready to order... not chatting and ignoring customers. They get a 5 star rating for sure.
I've worked as a manager in customer service and retail for 10 years, so its important that this kind of feedback is provided. I love you guys, but the worst thing you can do, is stand around chatting while customers are waiting, so I felt it necessary to leave this feedback. You need to be consciously aware of all your customers, and actively asking if anyone needs help or is ready to order/checkout, especially when you have a store...
Read moreI went to the north Flapdoodles yesterday with my sister. We were wearing our face masks under our noses and as we were ordering, another worker interrupted very rudely, shouting at us that we must wear our face mask over our nose or we would have to leave. We slipped them back over our noses and tried to continue ordering while she continued hollering in a rage as though we hadn't complied. The whole place, people eating, and those in the line behind us watched in stunned silence. She finally went back to work and her mask slipped below her nose. (No, we didn't bring it to her attention). When I left, she rudely repeated her command, for next time. Sadly, there won't be a next time, for me, my sister, and two others in line who voiced their disgust once outside. In all her noise, my server got one of my ice cream flavors wrong. I didn't notice until I was out the door and had no desire to return and make it right. I have seen this girl be rude before. Another customer told us they saw her get angry at a customer for "messing up" their stack of tee shirts while looking for the correct size. She is forceful and aggressive and has very poor customer service, definitely not a good fit for a "happy" ice cream shop. My only regret is that I didn't walked out the door in the middle of my order. At least four people who witnessed this will not be back. I can find good ice cream at other places that know what good customer service is. It was a...
