Alright, so this is the first of two reviews I'm writing today. The first one's directed at Game Stop, the other to UPS. So, last july after the conclusion of the Destiny Beta, I was hooked and ready for the full game, so I went to the local store and asked to pre-order the Limited Edition. The clerk told me that they were sold out and I would only be able to obtain a copy by having it ordered online and shipped to me, no big deal, I asked him one question, and that is if I would be receiving my copy on September 9th (Yesterday), to which I was told yes. So I went ahead and dropped the $100 on the Limited Edition and had it ordered online to be delivered to me on the 9th.
Now, I've had bad shipping before, and I know this is out of the hands of the local store, but they need to be more well informed that they don't actually ship new release games on the Friday before the release (Like they should), so yesterday comes and I've heard nothing in my email regarding an arrival today, so I check again, and they had only shipped it out of their Warehouse in Kentucky on Monday. I was given the tracking number so I looked it up, and it was sitting in the UPS place in Chicago ALL DAY yesterday, with no movement towards Rockford, which is only an hour away. So, the entire day goes by yesterday and I still don't have my copy, so now we're here today, I checked this morning and the game was "out for delivery" at 6:10am. It's been about 11 hours since that now, and I still haven't received my delivery, so I went to the UPS help line and got one of those "typical" I'll get there soon responses. Now, I live a mere 10 miles from where these UPS trucks are being sent out at the morning, it should not take them 11+ hours to deliver my game to me when I'm 10 - 15 minutes away.
I'm not pleased at all with this entire experience. The staff at the store needs to be more well informed than to make a promise that I'll have the copy by a certain time and to know better than to trust UPS. Read moreI was looking to buy a gaming set up for my son. Being a middle aged outdoorsman I’m pretty out of touch with the gaming world. After a disappointing experience at Best Buy I stopped in to the Game Stop in Forest Plaza as soon as I walked in, Dakota, (I hope I have his name right) greeted me with an ACTUAL greeting. Not the one you get places where they don’t even look up they just recite the same line they’ve said to ever person for months straight. Perhaps my jeans and cowboy boots gave me away but I think he knew I was out of my element so he asked if he could help me find anything. I told him my situation and admitted I was clueless. He said “no problem we can hook you up!” Then spent the next 45 min with me walking me through every option and helping me pick out everything I needed. Explained everything very well and was very patient and engaging the entire time! My son was BLOWN AWAY by his new set up. Read moreI wish I could give them no stars, I went in last night around 740pm and they informed me they close at 9pm. These two employees were atrocious and very rude. I took my ps5 in for a trade in for a ps5 slim. The African American employee yelled for the Caucasian male employee to come out, he came out helped the other customers that were being helped and she got upset and stated she didn't have time to help us. She glanced at my PS5 stated they could only give me $100 and my PS5 was defective didn't take the time to inspect or look at it really. 2/22/25 I hope to see these employees fired as they show a prime example of employees that do not care for others and do not know how to work and treat customers. I went back in this morning and a caucasian male and female were working both were helpful and welcoming.
