I was attempting to get a print framed at the Michaels store in Rockford, Illinois. I previously had a similar print framed at another Michaels store and they did an excellent job. I live out of state and was visiting family near Rockford. I was hoping to present my family with the print when I was in town. Michaels corporate policies prevented this from happening. Due to their policies and their obstinate manager, I was not allowed to order this print through the internet or over the phone. I cannot order this print in Colorado and have it delivered to the Rockford store unless I personally ship this item, which would be prohibitively expensive.
In order to make this happen I would need to personally go to the store in Rockford to place the order and then get the process rolling. This would take two weeks, one week if I paid dearly for the "expedited" processing. I would only be visiting for a week. I tried to find a solution with Jenny the store manager. She kept interrupting me to tell me why this could not happen. She was not creative in telling me how this could happen. She told me these policies were in place to protect me as the consumer, because purchasing over the phone or through the internet is a new, unproven business practice.
She told me that she would need to consult the district manager to see if they could approve this project without me being personally present. As of the posting of this comment two days later I have not heard back from the store manager. It was as if I had to fight uphill in order to give them over $300 in business. I contacted another frame shop who could complete this project in less than a week without an "expedited" charge. This shop was friendly, understanding, and more than willing to work with me. I will no longer patronize a company which does not respect me as a customer and will not work with me to gain...
Read moreHad a horrible experience in this store. Cut my hand on a zip tie, so I got annoyed and starting cursing due to being an OSHA - 500 trainer. I started to state out loud that the zip ties that are cut at a very sharp angle, should be pointed down, and that that’s “bleeping” the first rule of zip ties. And the older lady with white/grey hair at 5:03pm told me “excuse me?” I said yes? Your zip ties cut me and drew blood, and she said “oh I just hear you cursing a lot and there’s kids so don’t say that”.
Not even an apology for drawing blood from me on unsafe product on EVERY SINGLE ZIPTIE. She claims to care about the kids, but then is more upset at me cursing, than me bleeding in the store. She then continued to inspect the zip ties, chuckled at them then walked away starring daggers.
I apologize that I curse when my blood is drawn in a craft store. But to claim to care about the kids when your zip tied signs are sharp as a razor and pointed UPWARDS? And then to be rude to me about it? That’s ridiculous. The cashier at the front was wonderful about it with apologies and a promise to look into it, “for the kids sake”.
Ridiculous...
Read moreI returned to Michaels with a framed piece of art that had been in a fire. It had been exposed to a lot of smoke, water and flames. It wasn’t in great shape but was intact. The back had holes and fire marks and I asked if they could put a new back on it for me. They said they would take care of it and there would be no charge. When I returned to pick it up, they had taken it apart, aired it out for a few weeks, cleaned it all and put it back together with new backing materials and made it as good as it was before. The frame has wear and tear from the fire but otherwise It looks as good as the day I had it done. There was NO CHARGE for the work done. I was so very impressed. I will be returning here for all of my framing needs. Thank...
