i never felt so uncomfortable at a business before until today. for a white woman who makes artwork, products even, inspired by indigenous people (who she doesnt even rightfully refer to them as such), she sure knows how to make people of color feel less than. i was enjoying my experience at rockport until my interaction with the owner today. its already bad enough that the town lacks diversity but as a tourist spot i would not have expected this demeanor especially from a potential customer.

please support indigenous people and their artwork, not some conservative white woman who leeches off of beautiful artwork from a culture and communities shes not even apart of.

and to the owner i hope you learn more about yourself and learn how to stray away from microagressions. do better to treat all customers equally regardless of their background, especially if you dont know whether or not theyre apart of the very community that you are...

Heather was very attentive and patiently helped me pick the perfect wampum pendant and matching earrings for my daughter. I wish I had a photo of her expression when she opened the package! The smile on her face was priceless.

Although I live several states away, I have bookmarked Kala Roopa's website and plan to start my birthday/anniversary/Christmas shopping with them. They have a great variety of natural stone jewelry in very tasteful designs/settings. My experiences with Heather and her employee were excellent. They were welcoming, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure that I left with the perfect gift for my daughter. I can't wait for my next excursion to Rockport so I can stop in again. I was astonished by the behavior of the owner of this establishment. I was browsing with a group of friends and when one of us checked a text on their phone she approached us in the front of the store to shame us in front of everyone for “coming in just to sit on your phones”. She was extremely rude to multiple other customers while we were present and according to other reviews is known for having an aggressive attitude.
