Very excited to hear the snarky, zero-accountability retort from the owners after this review goes live. I was helped by a lovely younger lady despite the owner interrupting her as she helped me and holding up both the customer she was helping and myself. After taking my order, the owner said to the young woman “No, don’t make it” even though there was no reason (personally, I’ve remarked in the past how expensive their prices are to the owner, and now I assume the reason for this move was out of spite against me- even though I’m still a patron and giving them my money) for her to stop productivity on the line. The owner then proceeded to talk to her staff and busy herself with other tasks instead of making the sandwich that takes less than 5 minutes, and was just sitting on the counter. After a child distracted her by coming behind the counter, I finally got my sandwich with no apology for the wait that she deliberately caused. My name is Alice and I work just across the street; I’ve only had excellent service from this place except when the owner is there, as she takes out personal grievances on patrons that don’t agree with the inflation of prices, specifically a small cup of soup that costs nearly $10 (at least in the off season, when I stopped buying soup from them). Bring on the “it’s your fault, you don’t...
Read moreOdd, not entirely pleasant experience. Walked in to find one customer group in front of us and two staff. One staff member was attending to the group in front the other was busying behind the counter. After a few minutes 3 women came in after us and were welcomed by the “busy” staff member. They chatted, decided together what to order, spend some time counting out their money. Fair enough, we weren’t too bothered that she’d served friends first. Then another - obviously frequent customer - walked in and again was immediately served. Greeted by name, he then made his order. Only then did she turn to us, obviously still waiting fist in line, without apology, asked what we wanted. We asked what coffees were brewed - urns were behind the counter faced backwards - and after an incredulous look she replied “ all of them”. Seriously? She then reluctantly started to tell us what coffee they had but tired and tailed off with “and a few flavors”. I then dared to ask what flavors and again got the same reaction. There were baked goods on display and would’ve liked to know what they were, but not up for the challenge at that point. In the end ,coffee wasn’t great and the baked goods were better at the other - friendlier - coffee shop. If you’re a local, service is obviously...
Read moreThe donuts and pastry are actually very good. I stay away from the sandwiches because they microwave everything which as a nj native I find appalling but that seems to be the standard way in mass. Lines always long and it is popular. I love the strudel and donuts but last time I ordered them (2 total) and a medium coffee the bill was 19 bucks. I was flabbergasted haha. The staff behind the counter also moves at a snails paste. U wait an average of fifteen minutes watching the employees move slow and finally to finish and pay and then u get hit with the tip option. My bloods usually boiling when I leave. If the streusel wasn’t so damn good I would never go back. But is. Also I think think they should invest in a flat top stove to make the sandwiches fresh. I think it would make a huge difference. Hope this helps. All in all I will be back. F’n...
