Ethan Allen — Local services in Rockville

We were very happy working with Rose Tergelie Bien-Amie at Ethan Allen. We recently had hardwood flooring installed in our study, foyer, living room, and dining room. We were interested in updating our living room, but had a couple of favorite pieces that we wanted to keep. We first met Rose after we came to the store to look at some LR pieces. We chatted, and she offered to schedule a visit to come over to our house to get a feel for the space that we were redecorating.

When Rose came to our house, she listened very carefully to our description of what we wanted to do. She took photos and measured the windows (we decided that we also wanted to have new window treatments for the study, LR, and DR). Based on her visit, Rose gave great suggestions to help us figure out how to make the LR work, even with the older pieces that I wanted to keep.

After our meeting at the house, it took me a little while to decide on the sofa, chairs, and fabrics. Rose made great suggestions right away for a beautiful cocktail table and nesting end tables, that would both complement and complete the look.

When our sofa and chairs were delivered, we had them arranged according to the plan that Rose designed. We found that we really liked the arrangement, even though it wasn't what my husband and I originally had in mind!

Currently, we are waiting for our tables to arrive and we just ordered our window treatments. The final things on our list are: finding rugs for the LR and DR; recovering one of our older chairs in the LR; and painting the study, foyer, LR, and DR.

We have been working with Rose since June 2019. We purchased a new home and wanted to make sure our home represented my husband’s and my style while still appropriate for a family of 4 with two young boys. We really wanted style with good quality fabrics that can hold up for a family. We have purchased furniture and accessories in the past with Ethan Allen but our experience with Rose this time around was extremely different. On the first visit Rose took the time to understand what we were looking for. On the second visit, she showed us our 3D room layout and fabrics. And I must say my husband and I loved the layout and the fabrics immediately. We did not waste time discussing different layouts. We knew that we didn’t need to look at more fabrics. We went with Rose’s design and are so happy with our decision. Unlike other designers, Rose gives you honest feedback and will take the time to explain why she designed the room in a particular way and why she chose those exact fabrics for you. Rose has designed our family room and we are now working on our dining room with her. Our living room will be next and with Rose of course! We cannot imagine working with anyone else...

My experience with Chris Nguyen.

Chris is a true gem! He is an incredibly talented designer and a wonderful person. He is laid back, listens to you, doesn't push and makes the design experience as stress free as it can be. Chris helped me not only pick out a new couch, ottoman and pillows that met all of my family's requirements but he helped me create the whole room. He listened to what I liked, what I was looking for, what my family wanted and picked out fabrics that were perfect. They weren't ones I would have picked myself but in the end they were exactly what I wanted. He made the picking easy providing me just three choices and then we could make revisions from there. I wasn't overwhelmed and I'm thrilled with the combinations. And once we picked fabric he also helped me pick my paint color another task I dread. He gave me two choices and I loved one of them...done! When it came time to pick carpet I brought the samples to him, I didn't want to make a decision without his input because I totally trust his opinion. I highly recommend Chris and will definitely use him again...
