OMG! I am on the longest 10 hour drive from Chico CA to Seattle WA EVER. yes, this is day two. Its hot and my car is packed to the brim. and the rest is strapped down to the top of the car.. I'm traveling with 2 dogs. The littlest spent the entire day yesterday climbing into my lap and vomiting. My big dog hasn't peed in 20+ hours... Exiting the freeway for this place I was irritated by the extra long side road leading to it. I am SO glad I was to lazy to turn back. After you merge pull into that first driveway -I almost missed it. The first thing you'll notice are the oversized parking spots. The lovely street lamps match and the restroom facilities don't look like the backdrop for a horror flick! If your traveling with pets, resist the urge to park near the restrooms. Instead drive to the back.. What are you looking for? You'll know it when you see it... Yeah all rest stops have pet spots. They are usually a dirt pile. Sometimes a dirt pile with a stump in the center if your lucky. After being stuck in the car with my 2 dogs for 24 hours I totally teared up upon seeing a small wood chipped mini PET PARK with a big Pet area sign. The enclosure provides waste removal bags as well as a spicket for water. The hour I took with my dogs really kept everyone sane and by the time we left I wasn't questioning WHY I had dogs to begin with! Worth the stop. BEST rest Ares between Cali and WA! All rest areas should follow this design and whoever added that simple fence... I could totally kiss them...

To get to the rest station you have to cross underneath the bridge and the turn a couple of times. However, when you get to the rest station, you will be greeted with the many hanging flower arrangements in full bloom and freshly cut lawn, alongside vast scenery of mountains with plenty of green trees. There is a shaded area built for benches and picnic tables as well as picnic tables in open spaces. There are several picnic tables and benches for everyone to sit and enjoy the scenery. The restrooms are housed in a one story building. The women’s restroom is clean but smells a little bit. The stalls in the women restroom are divided with panels. The restrooms are well stocked. The mirrors are made of stainless steel. The water and the soap are dispensed automatically based on motion detection. There are plenty of parking spots around the rest station. There is a big informational panel about Oregon history and is subtitled Homeland...
