I called this place prior to coming and was a good thing I did. The day I went, there was a huge party that took over the whole restaurant but an employee told me that they have the small room (which was supposed to be an actual party room for this restaurant) open for walk-in customers because the owner didn't want walk-ins to come all the way to be turned down (which I do live 30mins away) Anyways, as walking in, I thought the place was very nice and clean, there were a lot of employees which made the vibe really welcoming. The waiting area has a nice fruit infused water and some candies. This was our first time here. We (2 adults, 1 kid eats like an adult, and 2 toddlers) decided to order more than we usually do on a typical Sunday evening. My husband ordered Tonkotsu Garlic Ramen and oldest ordered the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen. Both tasted very flavorful. I like the spice (wasn't too powering and was a perfect kick) so I would choose the Spicy Umami over the Tonkotsu but I'd order both if I can eat all of both. We ordered the eggrolls which was devoured in seconds. We also ordered, potstickers, edamame and the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. All tasted very yummy. For the main dishes, we ordered the Authentic Chinese Yang Chow Fried Rice, Salt & Pepper Squid, Beef Chow Fun w/ Gravy, and Honey Walnut Shrimp. The Fried Rice tasted so authentic and brought back so much memories. I can't remember the last time I tasted such flavors in my fried rice since childhood. The Squid was good but the diced jalapeños/peppers weren't spicy enough for me. Usually, Chow fun with gravy is always with dark sauce but I asked if we can omit the soy sauce and make it into a "white" sauce. The waitress was happy to accommodate this and tasted so good. I'm not too much of a meat eater so maybe next time I'll also ask if I can omit the protein and ask for extra chinese broccoli. The walnut Shrimp was the typical and we only ordered because our two younger loves that dish. I probably wouldn't order it again and would love to try the dynamite Shrimp or crunchy garlic Shrimp next time. Overall, definitely would come back. The owner (I believe), Brian stopped over by our table to ask how the food was. I love that type of service when the owner is very involved. When the kids and husband went to the washroom, he came out telling me the water was scorching hot and it would burn others for sure so he told someone about it and they went to check it out right away, fixed it, and let us know. We ordered drinks to go. It's the typical boba teas and fruit drinks. Nothing too special but I would still order them again because it wasn't on my bad list. Overall, definitely will come back! Another reason to come back because they have a lot of vegan options for when some family members come to visit us (yes, we'll drive out 30+ mins as a dinner night...
Read moreMy wife and I were very excited when we heard this place was opening. We like their previous restaurant and it looked like they were gonna move towards more authentic Chinese/Taiwanese food. And bubble tea in Roselle, 5 min from home! We have been to Taiwan and go all the way to China town or Naperville for good Chinese/Taiwanese food so we care deeply.
The second time we went, we ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, dry beef chow fun and Thai basil fried rice. They were very very delicious. The bubble tea was also very good. Is it better than Umbrella, Elite, Kung-fu or Share tea? No, but those other places require u to drive a bit. Their milk tea is more than satisfactory.
The service was great. Food came out quickly. They gave us some free tea to try, waitress was attentive, and I think both the manager and owner greeted us. They are on the right track there.
The decor is modern and pleasant. I just thought it had more of a "eat quick" vibe instead of a "come with your family for a family meal" vibe. If you are looking for more of a Yu's Mandarin or Chef Pings vibe, this isn't it. Not a negative, just not the type of environment you expect to have the manager and owner come and greet you...haha.
The menu is diverse but a bit confusing. They have Korean food, Chinese food, Thai food, and ramen? I guess that is a "pan Asian" restaurant. The diversity reminds me of Joy Yees but Joy Yees doesn't have ramen...haha. We haven't tried Korean (I am Korean) or ramen but since everything we ordered tasted good I am sure they will as well. I highly doubt their ramen will be as good as the Japanese ramen places in Schaumburg but we'll see. I mean, I don't go to a Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant for ramen. There are some really good Chinese/Taiwanese noodle dishes out there.
We would definitely go again and recommend it to others. The one thing that might keep us from coming more often is the price. A bit on the high side for us. Maybe this is a part them moving away from the "hole in the wall" type of Chinese restaurant? We pay the same at Joy Yees but Joy Yees has been around for a long time and Joy Yees is like a must go if you are in Chicagoland.
This place is by far the best we have...
Read moreI found a Gem in this place along my travels. From the spacious (2) seating areas, to the separate takeout area. From the Great tastings food to the awesome flavorful mango tea, to the friendly staff. Where should I begin? I ordered the Pad Thai (chicken, it's sprinkled with crushed peanuts. So however they make this i must say its crazy good. What is happening here is that the flavor of the food somehow stays in my mouth. How does this happen you may ask? How should I know, I'm just an eater not a chef lol. And let's talk about this mango, excuse me,fresh mango with Jasmine tea. I don't normally drink this kind of stuff but today I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, and I'm so glad I did. This was amazingly good. and this was a mango I just saw at the counter. I've been missing out due to my fears of trying new things. (Be better than me folks). I can still taste the Jasmine tea, my goodness. I want to go to sleep like this. it would help with the late night craving for something sweet. There is light music playing in the background, the TV playing on the food network I guess. And the price was fair. They have these cute chairs to sit in. Not you average restaurant chairs but comfortable and roomy. You have an option to sit on the bench on the wall if you prefer. The lighting has a warm ,and different look. From the color scheme to the art on the walls wish this place was in my neighborhood. (hint hint). Overall a great place to eat and a wonderful experience. And don't forget CLEAN. Did I tell you how clean this place was?? My goodness, not a fly in site. Enjoy your experience as much or even...
