I’ve driven to Reno on I-80 several times, had sight along the way of the Amtrac train in certain places and thought how cool it would be to ride the tracks. Well, I finally jumped on board. It was fantastic! It gave me a totally different perspective of the magnificent views between Roseville and Reno. Everything was quiet and serene. The train was clean and well staffed with friendly, courteous personnel. The gentleman that announced places and sights of interest was funny and intertaining. Drinks and food was available for purchase. I made myself comfortable in the lookout lounge with a Bloody Mary and enjoyed the stress free adventure.

If you have never taken the train up during the winter, it is a must!! Breathtaking views and the Amtrak employees were so kind and entertaining. For first timers! Walk around the train, we didn't know that you could leave your stuff in your seat and then sit in the lounge area for a while and go eat in the dining carts. It was fun! The Roseville station is perfect to take it from because it is quiet (no crowds) and there is a platform. I got dropped off and met my friend.

Catching Amtrak from this Roseville location is convenient and easy. The station is unmanned, but is kept very clean with plenty of shelter in case it is raining. The ride to Reno in December is very scenic. Coach seats are comfortable, cafe car provides food and snacks, and restrooms are available in each car. Great experience!

Amtrak still gets 5 stars from me. For this trip I needed additional assistance. It was provided graciously. The train track in Sacramento Calif is quite a distance from the station where my husband was to pick me up. My bag that had been carried to the upper level was carried and loaded on to the vehicle that took me to where my husband was waiting. He cheerily carried my bag from there and...
