I went in for a haircut and came out a goddess because of Sarah. As newly out and transfemme, I showed up with plain ole hair and a tender heart. Sarah listened to what I was looking for - a lived-in bookstore and coffee girl look - and she rearranged her whole schedule to help me.

She showed me what she was thinking, and I wasn't 100% sure but since this was the first time in my life I'd feminized my look, I placed my trust in her. I could see the joy in her whole being as she got into her zone and mixed, painted, set, and styled. I even felt a little guilty for being the center of her attention that day.

When it was time for the final blowout, she said she wanted me to face away from the mirror so I could be surprised. She told me that I would have a subtle, sun-kissed look, and I was happy with that, expecting a slight glowup.

I cried tears of joy as she spun me around in the chair and I saw my True Self - beautiful, sweet, and OMG SO CUTE 😍🫦. Can goddesses be 'subtle'? Maybe in the land of immortals - certainly not in this realm! Sarah.transformed.me.

BOOK HERE FOR YOUR DREAM HAIR!!! I previously had some, badly done in the first place, grown out green hair. (I'll attach before/after photo) I was hesitant to bleach my hair, but I wanted to add more color. I met with Chetto for a consultation and they were so freaking welcoming and they assured me that we could definitely do what I wanted. I booked with her and had the utmost confidence going into my appt. She was so pleasant and fun during the time there and I felt like she genuinely wanted to know about me and make conversation, rather than just another client to get through. Her coloring is not just fun, it's artistic and unique and she has such skill. I have a wedding in a few months and will definitely be going back to them to get my color touched up before the event. I'm not trusting anyone else for my hair now! She also made me a super tasty iced coffee and gave me a little Chakra session while I was at the wash bowl. I'm used to cutting my hair at home or getting simple cuts so when I found Obsidian Hair Studio through their Instagram, I immediately connected with their message of inclusiveness. I DMed Liz for a haircut and sent her inspo pics for a jellyfish/shag cut. Liz was extremely sweet and honest and answered all of my questions before booking an appointment. The online process was simple and straightforward, and the reminders were appreciated. When I got to the studio, I was greeted warmly and offered refreshments. Throughout the process Liz was guided by Sky and together they worked flawlessly to give me the hair I wanted. I learned a lot myself which helped me feel more comfortable with the process. At the end, everyone was pitching in to help style my waves and it felt communal and lovely, which goes to show the work environment the studio provides as well.
