Awesome bike shop! I can't say enough good things about their sales and service. Iāve been using Erikās in Roseville for two years now. First there was a fitting and old bike frame-fit nightmare that Jason Wolf helped me navigate through. He is so patient, knowledgeable and a great problem solver. I've had several finicky issues with fitting, saddles, health issues, riding style... nothing phased Jason as he kept making adjustments and looking for the right parts, and getting answers. They matched prices and went out of their way to make sure every detail was working properly, along with follow up to make sure the bike and rider were happy.
I've always enjoyed getting service from this shop. My bike comes back super-clean, with all of it's parts shiny and working well. Then this winter I had several catastrophic repair events that required serious warranty work and major service. One was a high end crank and the other a full frame. I loved the frame that was defective and heartbroken when it required replacement (think high-maintenance customer!)
Dave Tendall was simply incredible. IN-CRE-DI-BLE. Really fantastic. He worked with the corporate office to get the frame replaced without any hassle to me, suggested a way that I might get a closer replacement, spending hours planning for the right bike, down to the color that I wanted. He was able to save parts of the bike that I really wanted (even older parts that most others would have just said ābuy a new oneā). He then analyzed my riding style and future use of the bike, and custom built some high performance wheels that are tailored to my weight and use. They are bomb proof and again the quality of the build is simply beautiful.
Dave went out of his way, not just in bike building and repair skills, but he was spot-on answering phone calls, e-mails, keeping me informed of the progress from the other parts vendors. When I forgot my credit card at the store he even stayed late and met up with me to make sure I got it back before a trip. This is the kind of commitment, pride in oneās work, super-service that has won me over as a life-long customer.
I drive by six bike shops to get to this one. I will continue to do so because of straight-answers, impeccable technical repair work, experienced staff, attention to detail, and working with me on pricing and special orders.
Thank you Erik's. You've gotten me back on the road time and time again for miles of biking enjoyment. I hope other's read this and can echo...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI bought a Raleigh Capri 2.0 road bike from them in 2011. After a shifter jammed up during the summer of 2012, I took it to my local bike store (I now live a 10-hour round trip away from Roseville) who deduced the bike had been assembled incorrectly.
Long story short, no one at Erik's, including their corporate office, wanted to take responsibility for my $120 repair bill.
Instead of helping or offering to compensate, they told me to take it to the closest Raleigh dealer who was a 5-hour round trip. Since the dealer is a very small independent bike shop, they told me they didn't have the time to deal with it since it was during the summer, and I don't blame them---it wasn't their problem in the first place. The Raleigh dealer later offered me a store credit after hearing how frustrated I was with Erik's.
However, that did not compensate me for my repair bill, and I think it's ridiculous to ask someone else to fix your problem. My local bike store tells me they ALWAYS disassemble, grease and reassemble bikes before selling them to make sure they are put together correctly. Doing otherwise is irresponsible and lazy, the store owner told me.
Apparently it did not faze Erik's management when the local store owner told them I chose to purchase a $2,000 tri bike from them because I was pleased with their customer service. That shows how much they care about their customers.
I also contacted Raleigh America's corporate office, but they refused to do anything.
I will never shop at Erik's again, and tell everyone I know who bikes to avoid their store. While they might have good selection, they certainly don't offer quality products and take shortcuts with their work.
Shop with locally-owned bike...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased an e-bike at this location yesterday (4/11/23) and after the clerk gave it a full check he let me take it out the door. I rolled (not rode) the bike 50 ft. and the rear tire popped. I brought it back in and he promptly took it back to the "mechanic". I returned about an hour later and waited for another 20 minutes to get it back. For a popped tube. Today I had to make two adjustments of my own because the rear brakes were incredibly mushy and the brake levers were not even. This wouldn't be a big deal if I hadn't just spent $1400 on the bike. I'm very satisfied with the cordial manner of the clerk that helped me but not really confident with the overall operation. I'm just hoping the bike itself is solid so I don't have to bring it back to the people that are putting them together.
Update * (4/13/23) I just took my bike for it's first ride and didn't even make it 2 miles before the same tire popped. I will be will be going back to the shop tomorrow to get it fixed and get my "assembly fee" back.
Update * (4/15/23) Returned for a repair and once again, the staff was great. Instead of a repair they simply replaced the bike to avoid any hassle. They also dropped the assembly fee. This is the primary reason I went to Erik's in the first place and I am glad they backed their reputation. I will be picking up my new bike in a couple of days but now I have confidence that they will follow through with any issues I may have. Thank you to for...
