Let me start off by saying I really really want to love Red Wing Shoes. I'm from Minnesota and like to buy Made in the USA whenever reasonable.
That being said, I bought a pair of Chukkas about 1.5 years ago and sent them into the manufacturer to get them resoled. The biggest reason I bought them in the first place was because I thought they would last 10+ years with proper care and I could get them resoled every year or two. Well, Red Wing sent them back to me saying they are not resolable because there is water damage. Let's be clear, I bought and wore them in Vancouver, BC where it is very rainy. But, this is everyday use in Vancouver. Additionally, I would oil them religously once a month and kept good care of them. So now, I'm stuck with a $300 shoe that can't be resoled like I was told it could.
So, two suggestions for Red Wing. Either (A) build a shoe that you can wear in the rain and still have it resoled or (B) don't sell Red Wings were it rains. Look, this is everyday normal use in many parts of the country. If I knew a Red Wing would perform similarly to a Chinese shoe I would have saved myself $200.
Terribly terribly disappointed. I really wanted to love you guys and even convinced friends to buy your shoes, but now I'll never buy a...
Read moreI'd like to start this review off by saying the blame lies with myself for taking the guy's word who was "helping" me but the experience has completely soured me on buying products locally which is why I went to this store in the first place. Went in to try on a pair of iron rangers, the guy measured my foot and assured me that this was the size I should be getting. I left to think it over after much pressure to buy them right then. Went in a couple days later to buy them. I wore them ONCE to walk around INSIDE and quickly realized it's the wrong size. Called them today about an exchange and admitted I wore them ONCE . I believe it was the same guy who told me this is the size I should buy. I was then told since I wore them there's nothing he can do. Do yourself a favor, get measured in the store and order that size online to see if it will fit you. Don't feel pressured to buy local, at least in regard...
Read moreFantastic store. I've bought two pairs of boots here over the last two years though a safety shoe program at my work. I found the staff to be kind, knowledgeable, and willing to help me find the best fit for my foot, even if it meant ordering in different sizes to try on that they didn't normally carry in store. I found out things about my feet in this store I didn't know for the last 30 years. I always call these my 20-year boots when I describe them to people.
I have never encountered an issue with my boots and wet weather. I clean them once a month and put oil on them about every other month. I've worn them outside in all weather, and for hours on end. I have had one pair resoled once after I put some wear on my left boot. I didn't encounter any complaints on behalf of Red Wing.
Get some boots from these guys. You...
